wtf have you been reading?? When did I say that it sucks???  the first line of the post says I love PC gaming.  I'm just tired of it not working

Don't put words in my mouth.

Please relax.  I'm not putting words in your mouth.  Both were only examples.

Again, your reactions even to my posts are very hostile.  Why are you so angry?

Yeah console gaming is more easy. Good for you to keep playing games.

idk.  You're right. sorry.

But I have to disagree with you.  My OP wasn't hostile at all.

After rereading it, I agree.  Your OP is fine.  It got some pretty heated responses though.

I quit PC gamming also and have moved to console. Its just not as good as it use to be and console gamming has hugely improved over last gen

I use to be a big PC gamer but I finally realized consoles were just much easier too.

Yes, Shio, I'm sure I don't scrub my computer with a cloth every day and give it a good blasting of air every time I sit down, but I do take decent care of my machines and PC gaming is still a hassle.

With consoles, the games just work when I pop in the disk and I like that. As an added bonus I get to play games on my comfy couch with a controller on my big TV as opposed to in my crapy office chair on my smallish monitor with a keyboard and mouse (I'm a left so setting up the keyboard is a hassle every time). It's also just an initial investment vs. initial investment plus upkeep over the years followed by another initial investment when it's about time to get a new console anyways.

I could have my PC in my living but then I would have the wife breathing down my neck about their being a computer in the living room or I would either have to hook it all up to play games and then unhook it all again when I'm done which is just unacceptable.

I get that some people love PC with all their heart and that's cool but PC gaming has long been dead to me.

To me, there are just no advantages what-so-ever to PC gaming.

Strike that, I forgot about modding and making my own maps, that's about the only one-up PC games have for me.  Other than that, it's dead to me.

You forgot cheaper games, free extra content and not having to pay to play online. Without doubt consoles are simpler but a simple machine doesn't allow you complete control of your system.

I only started PC gaming properly in '06 (buying a GPU instead of hoping it works) and have been with Steam ever since. Maybe times were much harder in the old days but I've found everything extremely straight forward, including setting it up to work with my HDTV so I can play from the infamous "couch" with wireless mouse, keyboard, 360 pad.

Sorry but steam is pants, a poor mans xbox live....

Yeah, I think it would be more accurate to say that he didn't mince words about the problems of PC gaming, which of course made the OP an irresistible target for certain users.

The problem: you either don't take good care of your computer, or you are using Vista.

My PC only crashes once every 6 months too. PC gaming is getting so much easier, hell, in someways even easier than consoles.

Why do you think there are now over 300 millions PC gamers?
Everyone has a PC and piracy is extremely easy?

PC sucks, period. It gets one good exclusive in 2 years, there is no reason to own a gaming PC.
gtfo, there are tons of EXCLUSIVE PC games that destroy 99% of the console exclusives

Leaving aside whether PC or consoles (collectively) have better exclusives, your statement is at the very least outrageous exaggeration.  There are plenty of console exclusives that NOTHING "destroys", and PC does not have 99 times as many games on par with that "plenty".

Wait.... can you even play KOTOR on your 360? Is it on that special list? I won't even go into the Wii and the PS3 BC....

Also, my KOTOR runs flawlessly, as well as my Deus Ex and Thief II and UT99 and HL1 and Starcraft and WCII Bnet edition and Diablo II and I can keep going on and on. This sounds more like a personal problem to me, not a problem with PC gaming.

Humor me. What's wrong with the Wii backwards compatibility?

@OP:

Well that sucks, but I understand. Do you get a lot of that stuff with games that are on Steam? For some reason those always run without a hitch for me.

My super Smah Bros 64 cartridge doesn´t fit in the CD slot. Neither does my Goldeneye or just about anything from before that. On my PC however, I was play the 1989 PoP with the DOSBox just fine.

@hunter_alien

I´m playing those games because, sadly, they are still the best there is. Thief is still the top stealth game, Deus Ex is unmatched by ANY game out since. HL1 is only outdone by HL2 (which also runs flawlessly on my PC btw), UT99 by UT2004 (also runs fine), ans SC  has no equal. It´skinda sad that some of the games listed are still some of the best created, I blame solely the dumbed down HD consoles on this fact. Anything a console is associated with gets ruined (Deus Ex 2, UT3, etc.).

@morpeusx

You sped those $80 bucks for a new card only if you want the better looking graphics, if you want them to just look liek they were before you don´t have to spend them at all.

It's not like PCs have perfect backwards compatability either.  Trying to get C&C Red Alert (a game for Win 95) to run on Win XP was a pain.  I got it working, but it never ran quite the same as it should have.  It was playable for a while, but then it would crash on the fifth or sixth mission every time.

I would like to game on my PC more, but it can just be a huge pain.  I tried to download and play the Portal demo on from Steam, but it would crash at the same point about 10 seconds into the game even though my computer is well above the minimum requirements and meets nearly all the recommended requirements.  I even redownloaded and reinstalled.  Same problem.

Yea i agree it can be a pain in the ass. But there are usually work arounds most the time. But when sony does something like drop B/C.  Thats even worse.  Thats like having to keep your 6 year old PC to play your old games
