If you ignore the WASD buttons as they are the equiv of the left analogue stick you can play many PC shooters with 1-2 buttons. All you need is the fire button and some games require the use button as well.

How could you forget duck/jump? The basis of all FPS games!

Because the FPS player on the PC is too leet to duck and to manly to jump. He has other uses for his thumbs than tickling the dirty space bar.

Not true, because if it were true then lefty's would have a much easier time remapping their keys.

Take any given FPS on the PC and just try to make a comfortable lefty control scheme.  If you really want to be hardcore don't use the numpad.

Easy... use the P, L, ;, ' keys on a left handed keyboard with the numerical keys on the left side of the board. Your right hand will have a similar layout and all the buttons will be it the relatively similar position just reversed.

I only bring this up because I recently posted in this thread and it was on my mind but...

So I'm going to California this weekend and wanted something to do on the plane so I decided I would play some KotorII. So I start installing all 4 discs of it, spend 20 minutes getting through the first 3 discs installation, get to the 4th disc, and it can't find the file it needs.

Crap.

I try again, spend 20 minutes getting to where I was, it finds the files this time, finish installing the 4th disc, spend another 10 minutes finishing off that disc, it asks me to put in the first disc, and it can't find the files it needs.

Double crap.

So I've wasted a total of 50 minutes trying to install the game and now for some odd reason I'm trying again! So assuming it works, I have another 20-30 minutes of installing in front of me plus however long it takes to get the updates.

Oh yes, PC is the superior experience my ass.

-edit-

And even updating and patching was a pain in the ass!  It couldn't find my patch text file so I had to go to the Lucas Arts website, find the patch, manually download it, and manually install it.

Man, I'm glad PC games are so easy.

Okay, so I installed Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II again today for my coming flights and boredom in the hotel room and here's the experience:

  • KotoR installed fine, it just took sometime between 20-30 minutes
  • Had to fiddle with 4 discs and still always have to have the play disc in the disc drive when I want to play
  • Patching wasn't a big deal
  • KotoR II had...issues.
  • First time trying to install, I took about 20 minutes getting to the fourth disc and it errored and had to quit the install
  • Restarted the install, got past the fourth disc in about 30 minutes and then it errored again when I had to put in the first disc again.
  • Restarted the install again and it installed successfully about 30 minutes later.
  • Tried to patch the game but the auto patcher failed so I had to go to the website, find the correct patch, download it, and manually install it.
  • It has 4 discs but only have to have the one disc in drive while playing (no big deal, just mentioning)
  • In order to play the game in windowed mode I had to search the internet how to run the games in windowed mode and then edit the ini file
  • I tried to run the game and I got errors because it thinks my video drivers are out of date and it thinks I have the wrong OS because I have Vista (both games gave me the same error)
  • I went to the nVidia site and updated my drivers, restarted, and tried again and it still gave me an error telling me I had the wrong OS and my video card drivers are out of date BUT it at least let me play the game.
  • For both games I have to go through the controls and remap everything because I'm left handed and default controls just don't work for me (neither game supports controllers).

And what if I bought two random games for a console?

  • Insert the game into the console (have to do this every time for every game)
  • automatically download a patch if there is one
  • possible one time install that generally doesn't last longer than 8 minutes
  • Play the game

So no more than 20 minutes and I could have two PS3 or 360 games completely ready to play and more than two hours of headaches, waiting, and fiddling with settings for me to get two PC games ready to play.

And people wonder why I don't do much PC gaming.

I'm left-handed but I learned computers the right-handed way. I wonder if I've disadvantaged myself...

Gotta teach me how you bring along a 360/PS3 with you on the plane and then the hotel. They'd be almost worth the money then.

This.  I actually expect to eventually get bored of KotoR and switch to Chrono Trigger (which takes me less than a minute to setup, insert the cartridge, rather than two hours).

I can see a PSP Go! Future for you twesterm.
