Forums - Sony Discussion - Playing PS1 games on PSP help!?

Okay, you know how if you put a PS1 disc in your PS3 and then you can play it on the PSP. Well when I do this it is really slow. And I play it in my room, the same room my PS3 is in. How do I make this faster? Thanks.

what do you mean its slow?

It just seems like its lagging, if thats possible.

Ive never seen this done but i assume that its going to lag because your sending data from one console to another which will induce lag. Someone else will have to tell you how much is normal since i never have done this

can't you just play it on the ps3(question mark)

What are you connecting through to access your PS3? Are you connecting to it through the Internet, your router, or the PS3 itself?

There are also some settings on the PSP that you can adjust to try and reduce the lag. When you're connected, press the Home button on your PSP, then go into settings.

I am not sure I can offer any advice on this other than I have not noticed it but i play RPG games (turn based) so they don't require that much precision.

IS thsi anew problem? or have you been having it from day one?

I believe I am connecting through the PS3.

I have a question, too: If the PS1 controller has 4 shoulder buttons, and the PSP has two shoulder buttons, how does that work? I've been wondering about this for years!!

PSP allows you to remap the buttons for PS1 games. Not all games require all 4 shoulder buttons.

When I played FFVIII via remote play I had the same problem but I later found out about the remapping and I believe (not sure) there is a multiple button scheme (e.g. use of alt or shift in PCs) to circumvent the problem. I have never tried it as I stopped playing FFVIII and started suikoden 2 which doesn't need shoulder buttons.

SO in short, I believe there is a way to do it.
