Go watch the 2008 E3 nintendo press conference. |
And I've seen all the Sony loves it's fans but watch E3 2006 or the lies they said at E3 2005.
Nintendo's conference last year was them talking to the mainstream news, they saw what happened in 2007 where the media took their segments (usually dealing with Wii Fit, Mario Kart and Smash Bros Brawl) and said Nintendo won E3 though on the uber nerd internet sites everyone claimed _______ was the best cause all three came up but a lot of places said it was an all around tie and that it really was in 2007. So if you get free promotion by the main stream media business sense says if they did it last year cater to them so you get a lot of free promotion, did it back fire? For the most part, things to remember are they care about what the consumer wants but they're also a business here, when they saw the backfire they went directly back to talking about "core" games instead of "casual" games.
I'm certain they really wanted to do a big announcement about Pikmin 3 and Zelda Wii if they could, but after the remarks they got, the first things Miyamoto started telling the press was that those games were in development and to be sure they're on the way. Nintendo does care about the "core" gamer cause like all companies every consumer is important for them to succeed.
You're just wrong on that point man, a bad conference doesn't mean they don't care, if you want to talk about that there's a number of failed announcements and things that no one even wanted at E3 I could list but it doesn't mean those companies don't care.
