How can Nintendo Kill what they don't even care about anymore?

nintendo does care.

actions speak louder than words.

Go watch the 2008 E3 nintendo press conference.

And I've seen all the Sony loves it's fans but watch E3 2006 or the lies they said at E3 2005.

Nintendo's conference last year was them talking to the mainstream news, they saw what happened in 2007 where the media took their segments (usually dealing with Wii Fit, Mario Kart and Smash Bros Brawl) and said Nintendo won E3 though on the uber nerd internet sites everyone claimed _______ was the best cause all three came up but a lot of places said it was an all around tie and that it really was in 2007.  So if you get free promotion by the main stream media business sense says if they did it last year cater to them so you get a lot of free promotion, did it back fire?  For the most part, things to remember are they care about what the consumer wants but they're also a business here, when they saw the backfire they went directly back to talking about "core" games instead of "casual" games.

I'm certain they really wanted to do a big announcement about Pikmin 3 and Zelda Wii if they could, but after the remarks they got, the first things Miyamoto started telling the press was that those games were in development and to be sure they're on the way.  Nintendo does care about the "core" gamer cause like all companies every consumer is important for them to succeed.

You're just wrong on that point man, a bad conference doesn't mean they don't care, if you want to talk about that there's a number of failed announcements and things that no one even wanted at E3 I could list but it doesn't mean those companies don't care.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Nintendo IS gaming.

Not stories or graphics or "mature" themes or "HD" or Bluray, these things have nothing to do with GAMING.

That's why Wii Sports is a much better GAME than Bioshock and Wii Fit is more of a GAME than Ass Creed.

FPSs are not "hardcore", they are a digitised version of young children playing soldiers.....with worse graphics.

Nov 2016 - NES outsells PS1 (JP)

Don't Play Stationary 4 ever. Switch!

The guy has the right idea for maybe one or two points, but overall i felt he was just closed minded and grossly misinformed, with such quotes as "Remember when being a gamer meant something?" and "Sony, what happened? You guys used to be THE system for the gamer crowd, keep working at it, don't sellout now." and "I thought good games had stories, complex elements, art, dialog and a point.", I do not think he thought this rant through very well at all. I daresay he doesn't play enough games :/

One more thing, this quote: People seem to forget that Twilight Princess was a Game Cube game with motion controls thrown into it. Why is this thrown around more often then not? I believe everyone has come to terms with the fact that this game is also available on the GC, how does this stop it from being a great game?

Now you're just lying. Wii Sports is not a much better game than Bioshock and same for Wii Fit with Assassins Creed. Both games play extremely well and are of very high quality.

FPS is not the end all hardcore genre that some people like to believe it is. It's no different from any other genre and no better.

How technical is your game?

I doubt if Sony were doing exactly the same thing everyone would complain about it.

@ Psrock
Please, stop. You are a cool guy, and I understand what you are saying (I love Nintendo, but I agree with certain things that you said), but they will NOT understand what you are saying.

You are not Wrong, and Naz is not wrong as well, you have to understand that he is looking from another point.

And seriously, you both are in separate paths.

why they don't lock this thread? is pathetic.

Woah... Ninty fanboys were out in full force for this.

OT: Look at how well the Ninty core games have sold...
And they, along with the casual games... have sold fecking millions!

If anything, Ninty are getting more people into gaming.

Yeah, this has run its course. Locking.

I agree and disagree with the OT. Guitar Hero is a very fun game that i think is a perfect fusion between music and gaming. The gameplay is very tuff the higher the difficulty and nature of the song and that's why it's very rewarding. I don't believe the Wii is killing core gaming, core gaming is doing better than ever. Don't turn into these supposed "music loving" fools who scream sell out when a band is known by more than just them. A great game is a great game regardless of how it sells. That doesn't mean however, that i don't believe what the wii is doing is helping. I think these actions can hurt the artistic and best part of gaming but thankfully it has not.

Think about it this way, look at gamings' progress and growth lately. Isn't reaching critical mass? There are more hardcore gamers now than ever before and obv 10x the casual gamers and the money is just pouring in. But, wasn't that what killed music?? Most music, popular music in particular is mindless fluff and truly artistic music is hard to find. We have like a decade, maybe less left in our gaming industry before generic products become the norm and art becomes the exception. Enjoy while we still can.

But think about it this way,
