"-doesn’t measure up to Halo; Half-Life"

Since I never played Halo, I can't comment on it. However, I did play through HL. That's such a high standard to measure against and I don't think a lot of games would measure up to HL.

Half-Life also got 1 of the best intros during its time.

If this is another fake WTF

Ill expect an apology from all those who wanted forgive the last asshole

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

^^That's about the old fake.

edit: i still have some questions about this review though, like why is it available so soon, the next issue isn't due out for ages.

I'm not calling it fake (it looks legitimate to me) but I do wonder how reviewers get to play online portions of games at this time.... I mean first of all this can't be a finished copy, but even if it was I wouldn't think the online was fully set up till maybe 1-2 weeks before release if that.... So wouldn't the only experience of online be if the developers had invited them to play it somewhere rather than they recieving a copy?

it certainly sounds fishy, especially the comparison with HL and Halo, that's pretty stupid, but is also expected from reviewers - but not in a Nintendo magazine IMO.

if the AI is bad, at least they point it out, unlike a certain blockbuster which was lauded by the critics.

the words above were backed by NUCLEAR WEAPONS!

Nintendo Power is much thougher than your OXM and OPM: if it's just one middle point worse than Punch-Out, it's a game of the year contender. So yeah, bring it on!

That's what i thought too. If they were going to compare it, it would be against the last Metroid. The point of one console magazine is that they compare new games with older or better games on the same console. That's true no matter what console they follow.

Let's take this piece.

...Would the conduit make as big an impact on other consoles? Probably not...

I don't get NP, so i don't know their style. Do they compare consoles like that, even on any other single console magazine? I don't know if this is real.

Other games NP gave 80 too:
Boom Blox
NMH
De Blob
CoD:WaW
Excitebots

Those are the ones I found easy also to add in a wtf they gave Okami a 75

In that case I am impressed with the score.

However, I'm still skeptical about this review.  I haven't been a subscriber to Nintendo Power for years now, but comparing the game to Halo and Half-Life doesn't seem right.  It would be much more likely that they would compare the game to World at War.
