Every console is seriously down YoY, and even continually WoW, but what causes it? Don't just say "recession", that is not an answer, just an excuse. Exactly what makes people buy less hardware?

 

And what about the Long Generation Plan? A few months ago, everyone said that this generation will last longer, at least until 2012-13, because people won't buy new hardware soon.

This is possible, but it is already SURE that people don't buy the curent hardware. If the trends continue, there will be no demand to sell any this-gen console in early next decade. Are you still sure that they will last longer than 2010-11? (presuming that you were)

Why is it that we can't say recession, exactly? Is this something that applies only to the game's industry, because recession seems to be affecting almost all industries these days...
