Forums - Gaming Discussion - 30 FPS vs. 60 FPS

Sure, human can see difference between 30fps and 60fps. Btw, if you want to test it by yourself you can try my programs. You will see the difference quite easily.

There's really not that big of a difference between 60fps and 30fps.

It just something fanboys use to argue with each other.

I bet the human eye can't even notice the difference. Its just fanboys saying "haha your exclusive game only runs at 30 FPS, My exclusive game runs at 40 FPS!!"

You're just joking, right? At least i hope you are, cause 60fps is so unbelievably smooth if you compare it to 30fps. Don't get me wrong, 30fps is fine, but you can't compare it with 60fps.

examples...?

Supposedly films use 18 fps, but those frames include things like motion blur which the brain can interpret as movement. If video games incorporated blur then 18fps would be acceptable. Unfortunately they don't, so a higher fps is necessary. To me 30 fps is fine, 60 seems to be overkill. I see a difference, as one appears slightly more fluid, but don't ask me to identify what is 60 or 30 fps, because I would probably fail half the time.

My programs? 3D one will run on wine too, if you are using linux. I can take video and up it somewhere, if you don't dare run those. But I have to do that tomorrow, its way too much already.

(You can scan those file with http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus for example, if you think theres viruses. :) )

It can't be described in words other than that the image runs MUCH smoother. If you want examples than you should experience it with your own eyes. It's easier to test it on a pc cause you can tweak the settings so the game runs around 30 or 60 fps. Btw, most games on consoles are 30fps.

play a PC game like Counterstrike with max_fps 60 and then 30. You will notice a difference.

But having a constant fps is by far the most important thing.

I just tried your 2D thing, and except for the square at the very top, all the others looked the same.
