I left work about 40 minutes ago and went to pick up Punchout!! from my local Gamestop. I asked the guy at the counter if they had any in stock and he told me they were all out and that they only ordered 12 copies of the game which were to fill pre-orders.

Anyways I proceeded to drive to the other 2 Gamestops in my area and I ended up with the same situation, only enough ordered to cover pre-orders. One store was 11 copies while the third store only recieved 8 copies.

Anyone else find this to be the case with their local Gamestop stores?

I am so mad that I couldn't pick it up today. I don't have the money for the game, just Gamestop giftcards and it just so happens that Gamestop has none. -.-

I guess it's just my Gamestop's then.

Man this sucks.

No the few that are around me pretty much order roughly what the ones around you ordered (16 copies were the most I was told were held for preorders). I am guessing that most people if they are into this game, are buying it either at bestbuy or walmart. Those places probably got the lion share so to speak.

I think it will make Punch-Out sales incredibly high if they managed to cover only the preorders!
Anyway, I'm Italian, and in the main videogaming seller we have here (Mediaworld), they told me they had it without even checking out their database. If this happens, it means either they got a lot of them or they'll be advertised a lot. I'm used to spelling to them the names of the games I want, so they're not that kind of guys who know their work, yet they know about this one. It must mean something, I guess.

is the manager an idiot? if i was managing those stores id at least order 1.5 times as many preorders... and if i knew it was common for the other stores to only order enough for pre orders id order 2.5 times as many pre orders. that way everyone would be like 'this gamestop always carries my games' and they wouldnt even bother looking at the others and i would make those stores look bad

Same thing happened with my local gamestops(there are 4).Around 47 sold only for only preorders.Then I checked Walmart and Target and had bunch in there displays especially Target.

When the first guy said they only got 12 in some guy next to me said "What? Are you kidding me?". I am sure he was there for the same thing.

I guess they are just idiots.

Why not try Bestbuy then? Or you can purchase from Amazon and get 10 bucks off. Oops, just read your last sentence, never mind then.

lazy ass managers tick me off.... mostly because i use to be one and i dont see how some people are so short sighted they dont order a few extra.... and if my 1.5 figure wasnt enough id order extra next game. its all about find formulas that work.

I am sure Walmart has it, although my local Walmart hasn't had anything lately. I have one in the same shopping center as my local Gamestop.

I wanted to buy it with my Gamestop giftcard though because my money has other places to go at the moment.
