It isnt the same graphs or charts.

Like I said, dont like them - dont view them

They will keep appearing weekly / monthly

of course you update them !!!

my only point : THIS thread is useless.

(the other one is fine)

Jeeze Lillebule, it's a great thread, and the other one is on page 8 or something.

The is absolutely no difference at all between bumping that and making a new one for space on the "page 1". The main difference is that this has no comments, which is more likely to lead people into sharing their thoughts. I cannot, for any reason, see why bumping the other thread would be better.

And it isn't like most of the other threads here are more informational than this either.

Great job once again Kowenchiki!

When I write Fact: in one part of the post, and opinion: (or a similar word), it's not because I can then say "my opinion can't be wrong". It is to inform what part is pure facts, and which part I try to draw a conclusion in.

awesome graphs!
should help clear a few things up.

But why is there that huge jump in the WW 360//PS3 gap from Aug/Sep 08 and why has it almost flatlined since february?
surely the gap should be increasing at a faster rate than it is now? it's never been as flat for so long before....

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

Well, the 360 is beating the PS3 by 350k, so how is that the difference between impressive and relatively poor?

Relax, I know what you mean. The percentages. It's worth noting, however, that 2009 PS3 > 2008 360. And 2008 PS3 > 2009 360. Meaning that the PS360 gap is smaller in 2009 than it was in 2008, which leads me to believe even more that this whole "PS3 is doomed" crap is an exaggeration.

Now, does anybody know if the PS3 was adjusted up, or the 360 down, or both?

Dug this up from your thread a couple of weeks ago:

2008 2009 2009 v 2008 % up/down
360 2,496,914 3,446,460 949,546 38.03%
Wii 6,253,120 6,200,985 -52,135 -0.83%
PS3 3,417,607 3,005,715 -411,892 -12.05%

Total 12,167,641 12,653,160 485,519

What is the interest into the differential gap, exactly? Aside from fanboyism, that is.

Absolute install base make sense for hardware vendors and service/software providers, and install base ratios make sense for studios who have to choose the platform on which to develop.

But the differential gap? What's its significance?

Exactly why would we want to discuss a sales gap on a video game sales chartz forum. Oh wait...

Can't understand your logic. Since this site is about sales would you want to track, chart, and discuss the quantity:

(weekly sales of DS+ weekly sales of PS3) / (weekly sales of PSP 1 year ago + total Wii sales)

I answer no, because it has no interesting meaning.

Now read my post again, and feel free to explain me what is the real world meaning of (total 360 sales - total PS3 sales). I already made the case for the absolute total sales and the ratio (total 360 sales / total PS3 sales) as quantities that will affect the business and cascade on us gamers.

There's too much emphasis on percentages in here, they mean nothing.
Graphs are good though.

Everything is just as expected really.

hmm.. so overall the total amount of consoles sold still is up this year due to the strong increase of 360 sales, but I guess revenues are down by quite a bit
