I am not saying the speakers were not worth more. I have shit that would be worth way way more than what you describe if traded in, and would be a bad deal if I did it. However, putting the line about getting a bad deal while referencing the Wii will only serve to piss people off. Its a nice way to call the machine bad without anyone being able to point out you called it a bad system. It would be a great bit of stealth trolling had you done the thread in a better way.

A quick search on amazon.co.uk (where your profile says you are from) shows a nice selection of games used on the Wii and an accompanying price. I find it extremely hard to believe you expected to get better information out of a bunch of Wii fans on a website with a plurality of people living inside the US, and only a notable minority living in the UK itself.

I am from Finland, I don't know why my profile says UK. Propably because I haven't entered that info. :P

And here I was suggesting you send Wii Sports and Play to a UK based retailer.... you could have stated this earlier, or change your profile.

Even twesterm is too lazy to look up how much he'll get for a game, or even decide what game to play that he already owns. So does he troll the Wii too? (maybe this is a bad example, as people claim he trolls everything )

I don't care if he traded his car for a Wii with the intent of selling it. Maybe he is just stupid, but he asked a legitimate question and you and everyone else just derail this thread. He never asked for games to buy, all he wanted was how much he'd get. The thread would be 1/2 the size if all the "OMG he is trolling" didn't take place and people just answered the question.

This is the same exact thing that happened to Starcraft when he legitimately made a thread that got derailed so bad that I locked it and he had a lengthy conversation with me over it. Sometimes people change, sometimes they don't, but if you don't give them a chance, then you'll just continue to argue and not get along.

Twesterm is a bad example. I love it everytime he posts, but he is not a model for others. He is especially bad example considering the person in question has been banned several times for trolling the system I think he is trolling now. Even still in the middle of my arguements against him I am giving useful advice at the least. You aren't going to get good info about it here, and you are going to at the websites I listed.

I explained my reasoning a bit better with the bad deal statement one post ago so I will leave it at that unless there are further questions. If we are talking about the original post alone there might be a point. However, look at his signature, and the rest of the posts in this thread. These are not posts from a newly reformed Esa. This is the same schtick he has had since he came to the website. We will simply have to agree to disagree on it though. I am trying not to comepletely de-rail the thread with my accusation, which is why I made it a point to put in something useful to the other posts, which I really can't do here. I will do my best to keep something relevant and helpful in any post I make though.

A quality sound system is an investment that you continue to use for 30+ years. A quality speaker will sound good for decades before it finally fails, so I have no problem investing in a system that costs $3k. In reality, the speakers I bought were on closeout because the company was moving on to the next model so I picked mine up for over $1k off normal retail with the full manufacturer guarantee and everything.

Oh, and what I bought is considered medium range quality. If you move to higher quality you can spend over $1.2k per main speaker, and over 2k for a sub-woofer.

This. If you buy quality speakers, they will do for a looong time. $3k isn't that much but it is a good start. :)

I have had my small system in my room for 6-7 years, and there is nothing wrong with the speakers that came with it... the whole lot was just under £100.
Ok so I have a small room, I think the wattage for the combined 2 speakers (zomg only 2!) is probably less than 30.

In the living room we have had a bigger system for about 10 years, speakers still fine, I believe it was about £200 when we got it, the only thing that went wrong is my dad nicked one of the speaker wires when putting in a new carpet, so it started cutting out, but we shortened the wire and it is fine again.
I believe they are about 60Watts each.... and it sounds good.

And you can't say I have bad ears, I went to see Star Trek at the cinema a couple of days ago, and I could hear they turned the cinema speakers up too loud as there was a buzz in the explosion sequences.

Dude.. seriously. If your speaker set is advertised by "watts" then it sucks. It is that simple. :D People have different standards for their speakers/amps. :P

I have a 12" 250W sub-woofer (overkill, but it was on sale ), and a 7.2 system with 95W (maybe 100 can't remember) per channel.

There is nothing wrong with cheap speakers, but they don't recreate the full audio range as accurately. Typically cheap speakers focus on the high and low frequencies sacrificing the mid range (Bose is a perfect example of this). Also, as you try to turn them up they distort the sound as they can't handle the volume. As you travel up the price range they create the entire audio range with better clarity. Also, you move from cheap plastic or fake wood cases to real wood cases that look like furniture. Of course, you can buy $2k speakers and they will sound like crap if you don't have your room & system properly balanced.

Care to tell me what else it explains?

If you are from Finland then you are honestly better served by PMing the like 3 people on the site from there. There are so few people here that the prices that would be fair in your local area would be entirely unknown to the community at large. If you are looking for something outside your country then I would have to say eBay is the better option still.
