PS3 need it from the begining and games like MGS4 not having them hurts!

@ OP

What would make this more interesting is a tally of who likes what better. Eg; PS3, 360, or both, etc...

Playing and finishing games first>>>>>>>>>>Then talking!

Opinions are subjective and just like moods, can change.

TOP 12: Deus Ex, Shadow Man, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturn, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metroid Prime, Zelda (series), Uncharted (series), FF Tactics, Persona (series), Demons Souls, Vagrant Story.

MOST WANTED: Deus Ex: Human Revolution, The Last Guardian, ICO/Shadow OTC HD

I like trophies because it has a level up system, but you dont get anything for leveling up.. I like achievements as well, they are really similar though, but I hate the "Achievement unlocked" logo, it feels so cheap or sounds so cheap, I think they need to update it.

Yes, u are right. But, it has been compulsory for all games from the start of 09 to have them. Better late then never, I suppose. MGS4 will have them come the release of MGS4 Exsistance, or what ever they call it. Put in as a selling booster. Most other must haves got patched long ago; GTA4, Uncharted, Bad Company, etc...

achievements, but i might be the only guy that likes the sound of trophies better- but thats because i keep hearing the same sound as the achievement one when a friend goes online or if my controller disconnects.

LoL...  That has been a source of constant amusement in my house if we're streaming NetFlix on the 360.  Hearing the sound during fights or love scenes or deaths in horror movies innevitbly cracks us up.

That sound and the image have become so iconic...  I almost disliked that they chnged it from the simple "Achievement Unlocked" to the name and points or "2 for 250g" display.  It grew on me fast, though, especially in multiplayer games where we weren't sure if the other player unlocked the achievement.

Believing in the PLAYSTATION®3......IS.......S_A_C_R_I_L_E_G_E

I used to own a PS3 and never really got into the collection of trophies, but I think achievements are much better implemented on xbox. When you manage to get achievement points on a game like Geo Wars you feel like you've accomplished something and they can keep you playing a game that you wouldn't have played so many times until you get all of its achievements.

I think achievements feel more like a natural part of the 360 experiences rather than a tacked on element like trophies on ps3 do.

Also, I like that achievements are actual points and available in almost all 360 games since the system's launch.

Achievement points imo are the greatest advantage the 360 has over the other consoles.

Ps.  I also like achievement locked and unlocked logos.  They remind me of this:

i like trophys better because u can tell if someone is really good or really bad because they'd have alot of gold looking achievements it like oh the have a big number which can mean someone plays alot of games or someones really good

It's not such an easy call really but I have to give it to achievments because they feel more natural within their respective system.

Trophies are fine and well but the gamer card equivalent on the PS3 is not apparent and in your face from boot up. It just feels like they were always meant to be there, rather than an after thought. So the Achievments edges it out in my opinion.

Trophies: RPG like leveling up system.
