Forums - Gaming Discussion - Tecmo Announces E3 2009 Lineup

Well, of course Tecmo sucks. Once they stop developing for the PS3, they'll be good again, right guys?

Finally equal Ninja Gaiden treatment

PSFocus writes: In a recent interview with Kikizo the new Team Ninja boss, Yosuke Hayashi, revealed that the Ninja Gaiden series will continue. Not only that, it will continue on a multiplatform basis and will see PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions release simultaneously.

This is good news for any Ninja Gaiden fan.

For PS3 owners, it means they'll get the game earlier. For 360 owners, it means Tecmo can put more effort and polish into the game, as higher sales are expected right from the start.

So really only the extreme fanboys will have a problem with this.

Lol, I thought I was in the Ninja Gaiden 3 thread. The one with the article about NG3 being multi-platform.

I don't think so. Family fun football sounds nothing like Tecmo Bowl.

I wouldn't be happy if instead of Metal Gear Solid we got a substitute called Fun Robots Adventures. Or if instead of The Legend of Zelda we got Princess Dress Party.

You don't think so because you're a notorious "glass half empty" kind of person. Everything involving the Wii is automatically worst case scenario with you. On the other hand, I'm here actually making sense trying to put the pieces together on what might have happened to the long awaited Tecmo Bowl and why there is another football game on center stage. It's not too hard to figure that this game likely is a renaming or a retooled version of that Tecmo Bowl game. Also your examples about Zelda and MGS make no sense. Tecmo Bowl actually always has been a light hearted, simpler take on the game of football and if you knew anything about the series, you would have known that already.

Why would they change an extremely popular brand in favour of a generic dumbed down name?

It's absolutely not the same game when a change that drastic is made to the name. It could happen that what you say is true, nothing is impossible these days when it comes to the Wii, but honestly, if you are changing the name, then you are changing the game itself to aim for the new audience. I don't think any Tecmo Bowl fan will be buying a game called Family Fun Football if he didn't know the game was the exact same.

A lot of sales lost and not a good name either to appeal to football fans or casual players. The name is generic, dumb and many people will associate it with terrible shovelware or kiddy stuff.
