Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony says PlayStation 3 will make late comeback

I'd say the PS3 has already made a comeback from when it first launched.

I'm not a fanboy of any kind so my optimism isn't that high, statiscally speaking, they will never be number one this gen, it just won't happen at this point, but they still have a chance vs the 360 if there is a slimmer version that'd cost less with a HDD bay on the side.

Nice, makes me happy that Sony is not a quitter.

oh, you got me there. just answer this for me, how much money does one have to invest into a pc to get crisys to run at full res.? I think I'vs made my point.....

you mean like 2560x1600 or something like 1280x800 or even 1900x1200? if it's the later 2, it doesn't take too much money at all. considering that a PC's functionality is much more than a PS3 and it has a much wider support on everything it's able to do too, PS3 is just a toy at best. but that doesn't mean I don't like the PS3, I like it just fine, you just can't expect it to be better than a PC, ever.

Oh looks like some more luxury features are coming that I didn't know about.

listen here, they are all toys, you don't need a pc unless you have a work pc. ps3 is for gamers! pc gamers think they are the original gamers, but it is just not true, it is a dying market. the only thing keeping it alive is W.O.W. other than games already found on the ps3/360, what games are mainstream enough to support pc gaming? none. anything I need from a pc, I can do on my ps3, anything I want in my ps3, i cannot get from my pc, and I have a decent viao. I just don't want to spend several hunderd dollars on the thing to play bluray, when I already have it on the playstation. pc's are for myspace/facebook to the majority of people, and those kinds of things you can do on a ps3 w/o lynux installed, come on, are you seriously gonna tell me pc's, for gamers are a better value?

Well, "We are in third place and getting owned by both of our competitors" wouldn't make for a very good press statement, would it?

Don't get annoyed at Sony PR. It's their job to make everything sound rosy.

I'm not a elitist or anything, I do use my PC for work as well. gaming wise I started on an Apple II, one that hooks up to a TV and runs off a tape player, I don't know if that makes it original since it wasn't an Apple I but I think all gaming platforms are valid. you can do some minor things on a PS3, but it's horrible for fast multi-tasking, but at least it's not assinite like XBL where you have to pay to do stuff. value-wise, they balance out, PC games are far cheaper and you don't even need to buy them from a store since you can get everything through digital distribution, if anything, it's more advanced through services like steam or D2D etc and they always have discounts all the time on even the newer games randomly every week. even right now, I'm still thinking about selling my HD consoles, but I'm a sucker for final fantasy and JRPG in general so I can't get rid of them and I think it's a pain in my ass.

Its kinda hard to put down pay to play XBL when the majority of pc online titles also cost monthly, for each game. Plus, pc gaming will never be cheaper when you calculate the cost of the pc itself.
