Correct me if im wrong, but previously the reason there was no car damage in GT was because it had something to do with Licensing?

GT paid for a full license/rights from the car manufactures, and some of them didn't want their cars getting scratched? (Compared to other racing games that didn't recieve the 'full' licenses/rights)

I'm most likely wrong, hope someone can confirm this was teh reason
