All those were new, mature IP's that enjoyed a good amount of sales success. I'd say this proves that even mediocre games like Heavenly Sword can be successful on HD consoles.

Now I want you to find me about that many Wii games that are new IP's and are mature games and sold reasonably well.

Those stats (or lack thereof) are what I use to form my opinion that the Wii has not proved itself as a viable mature gaming platform, in comparison to the HD consoles. I think developers also take this into consideration when deciding which platforms to design their game for, leading to what I believe is a lack of new mature games on Wii. Maybe my thinking is wrong here, but I honestly would love to be proven wrong.

Oh yea he so owned me considering the Wii barely has even gotten any new IPs that are M rated.  I can think of Madworld, No More Heroes and RE:UC as being new IPs that are M rated.  Half of those games he listed were hyped like no other.  I bet a large percentage of people that bought Halo bought Gears when it came out.  Saints Row is pretty much a copy of GTA.  Dead Rising and Left 4 Dead are zombie killing titles which usually sell decently since everyone loves zombies.  Resistance was a launch title when there wasn't really much available on the PS3 at the time. 


How can the Wii prove itself as a viable M rated gaming platform when the there are so few M rated titles being released.  You have to first release the titles for there to be any proof.  It would be like saying there is no life on other planets just because we haven't found any yet.  So lets look at some M rated titles that have been released granted that most aren't new IPs.

 

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition - 1.57m

Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles - 1.27m

CoD:WaW - 1.13m

The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return - .97m

No More Heroes - .40m

Madworld - .20m

 

Madworld will probably at least reach .5 - 1m lifetime.  CoD:WaW didn't do well at all at first but has been selling steady.  No More Heroes did well enough to grant it a sequel.  So if you want to set bs guidelines about the Wii not proving itself since there are hardly any M rated games even released then how about this guideline.  All HD games are a failure if they can't sell as well as Mario Kart, Wii Play, or Wii Fit.

First of all i would like to say i'm sorry for creating a flame war that was not my orginal intention, second i like games on all 3 systems that why i buy games on all three systems. Now i understand that the Wii is not the graphic powerhouse that the 360 and PS3 is but in the "last-gen" systems most games came out for all three anyway and pretty much everything came out for the market leader at the time except first party games which is a no brainer. 

As far as the "I'm a hardcore Nintendo fan" comment i made, i didn't mean to be taking in a fanboyish manner, i simply meant that I really like Nintendo, more than i like Sony or Microsoft so i wish they could appeal to everyone. Also i have more games on my Wii than the other two so why would i sell it. i guess i didn't write out my point well enough to create a discussion i created a flame thread and i didn't mean to.

I just want to run around a city like i used to on Spider-man 2 and Hulk Ultimate Destrution on Gamecube they were fun.

Recently I've been playing a lot of RTS on my 360. C&C series and Halo Wars. Wii offer anything in that genre?

Well there's still a couple of old names around, but the page is just way too crowded to keep track of them, especially when most of them aren't posting that much.

I'm actually really comfortable playing RTS games with a joystick and it has some advantages.

My PC is obsolete in regards to gaming so I'd have to drop money on a new one. Also there are few PC exclusive games I actually want to play.

I really don't feel like having a debate. I'll just say when it comes to about every genre you'll find deeper gameplay on the HD consoles.

i was just looking at Trauma Center series, both games looks amazing but, where is ps360s point and click adventure surgeon simulator game?????

Your point? holy shit there is no such thing here *head explodes*

if developers don't want to do such a game for wii then there won't be any and same goes to any other platform and any other kind of game.

Am I the only person who doesn't have enough time for all the Wii games I am going to buy/still have to beat this year? Some people complain way too much. I don't see the problem. If you have the console to play the game, and you will enjoy the games, why does it matter if the Wii has that type of game or not?
