Well, you see Ken, that's exactly the thing that's going on here. We love our old Zelda songs too much that we can hardly get used to hearing something else! xD

I'm sure that if Zelda Wii would only have remixes of old Zelda songs, it would be too good. I suggest they don't do that unless they want the Wii to explode from too much awesome.

It's a double-edged sword really.  I remember the backlash Kondo got when he didn't include the full Zelda series theme in Ocarina of Time, but rather just the motif in "Hyrule Field Main Theme".

But I agree with you and I think there are plenty of new songs in the more recent Zelda scores.  But the composers have a tendency to rely on arranging the old masterpieces as well.  I think they've reached a delicate blend.  I'm all for smart arrangments and musical easter eggs myself.  For example, the inclusion of A Link to the Past's "Dark Overworld" showing up in Twilight Princess' "Kakariko Village" - that was such a pleasant surprise!

If they get the same treatment as Super Mario Galaxy, with full orchestra soundtrack, it'll be epic.

zelda music is the best

I personally liked the music for Twilight Princess. Even though it was mostly MIDI, it was still well-composed and well suited for the game. I found Phantom Hourglass to be weaker and less satisfying. I'd rate TP's OST above WindWaker (which, to be fair, was a good score, too), and somewhere inbetween OoT and ALTTP. I haven't heard any so-called "bad" Zelda soundtrack, and I thought TP was one of the finest.

In fact, I made a high-quality rip recording of this music spanning about as long as four disks (thanks to some help from PrimeBlue), and more than 1,000 people downloaded.  Maybe TP's OST isn't as disliked as the few here who said otherwise suggested.  While there IS something to be said about the next Zelda game having more orchestrated music since Nintendo proved they could do it with Super Mario Galaxy, I still think TP was still a massive effort for a Zelda game and well put together.  I've listened to these songs countless times, and I've never gotten bored of them.  (Then again, I don't hate any Zelda soundtrack at all.)

Midna's Song is awesome... I don't know how to tell how I FEEL the awesomeness in it...

Hidden Village and Hyrule Field versions in TP are soooooooo great too!

I agree... but at the same time, did Zelda ever have any memorable music other than the main theme?

I've always found the Kakariko Village theme to be the most memorable and the most heartfelt theme in the series.

I was also saddened by how badly they ruined it in Twilight Princess...

LttP is sill the pinnacle. OoT started the trend of ditching dungeon music for ambiance pieces...and half of its music was lifted from older Zelda titles. That's not to say that the new pieces it had were bad.

The handheld titles don't get enough credit though. I stll remember a good portion of LA's music and I appreciate the actual dungeon themes in the handheld games. They may be a bit simplistic but they left an impression on me.

I was also sadded by how badly they ruined it in Twilight Princess...

We all get sadded from time to time.

I agree with you about PH, but I think Twilight Princess had awesome music. And I definitely think Zelda Wii will have great music. But hey, I loved the TP-music so what do I know...

Personally I loved the soundtrack for Twilight Princess, both WW and TP have great music.

I agree to some extent about Phantom Hourglass. The only tunes I really liked were Linebeck's Theme, the Ocean King's Theme and the Great Sea (but not as much as the Wind Waker version). Saying that nothing stood out as bad and I really enjoyed the game.
