I'm not bashing MOTION CONTROL. I think that motion control is great I just think you guys are completley missing my point. I don't think it should be mandetory that is all I'm saying.

The Wii is a great system which I own multiple games for. However I still like normal controls as well. Thats all I'm saying this thread is about if motion control is FORCED onto everyone.

Do you really think that in the future gamers will be playing videogames with an antique idea from the late 80's and early 90's?

Maybe car companies could have continued offering crank starts on cars, too?

Motion control is the next evolution, it's time to accept it.

And to the person who said they didn't think that it was able to improve on 3rd person shooters, you're the only one. Go to metacritic, go to the fans, you will find almost unanimous feelings that it was incredibly superior to analog sticks.

ummm.....I really don't know what to say to you other than your being WAY too serious.  This is just a disussion about the future of motion control.  The fact is some people still like to play with a dpad/ thumbsticks and normal interface buttons.  I even said in the post you quoted motion controlls are great.  I just think that some people still like a regular controller even if it is "antique" according to you.

Though to his point.  Some people still enjoy joysticks.

Heck I still enjoy this control scheme...

How much has the steering system on cars changed in the past 100+ years?

true but his point still doesn't make sense.  The Wii is in first place and a very successful system but the 30 million 360 owners and 20 million PS3 owners have all said they are fine with normal controls.  50 million is no small number and they are still both selling.

answering to OP : of course not, next-gen is about online gaming, community, interactivity. Motion sensors come into the interactivity part, but the other parts are stronger : online market, DLC, online co-op, multiplayer games, demos, extra content, patching, firmware updates, etc. etc. etc.

You mean current gen!

Anyway I don't really care much about motion control. My favourite Wii games are games that don't need motion control in the first place to be great.

How will you feel about it?

I hope it doesnt become mainstream for the ps4

Honestly if that happens I think I might just skip the next gen.

if the hardcore games like shooters and sports have it then me to

While I have a Wii and think it can be fun at the end of the day I still prefer just a normal controller.

yeah normal is always better

Some stuff just works better doing that than waving stuff around.  So what do you guys think?  With all the rumors floating around about Sony and Microsoft joining in on motion control it looks like next-gen may be centered around that idea.

i think MS and sony will reveal it at E3 this year but there main games like halos gears uncharteds and all others wont use it its just so they can try to steal some of the wiis audience and the games that use it will be all casual

I think it should stay the way it is now.

Me too

Sony and Microsoft continuing their methods while a new version of the Wii is released for updated graphics and motion control.

EDIT:  Remember this is simply hypothetical and if there is a choice between the two controller styles I'm fine with it.  This thread is just saying if motion control is FORCED onto users in the next-gen

Oh, i agree.  I'd even guess that at least one of the next three gen systems will completly downplay motion controls.  Most likely the Microsoft box.

A large part of their group being sports fans and dual analog shooter fans.

I think motion controls will be the dominant control method, but there will be times where they won't be use just like now, with the Wii.

If we really want to descend into the use of dubious car analogies, I would cite power steering, automatic transmissions, and cruise control as major technological changes which have dumbed down the challenges involved in piloting an automobile.

Have fun playing with your Pong paddles.

ZING!

And motion sensing has revolutionized steering as well.  That's why Mario Kart Wii is the best selling racer of all time.  And in real life, this is happening:
