Forums - PC Discussion - Sony Vaio, are they good?

That's basically my question. Are Vaio's a good product? I know Sony usually make lasting products. I heard they were great in the beginning. I also heard they have a lot of programs already on it and push them on you.

Also i was wondering if they are good for gaming? Right now i have a Gateway for gaming but my graphics card messes up as well as my computer itself. I want a new computer and I was looking at a Vaio desktop. I think they look nice too.

Another thing is i looked on their website and i wonder if they still make their computers with the tower seprate from the screen. I don't know if i like the all-in-one thing. For those of you who have all-in-one types of computers, it doesn't have to be a Vaio, do they work well? Are you still able to open it up and upgrade it yourself?

Are Laptops good for gaming as well, if anyone has a gaming laptop what games can it run? Can a Laptop run the game Crysis at full power or do you have to have a desktop?

Sorry for all the questions i hope some of you have some answers.

No, my wife had one and it constantly broke down. Sent it back twice I believe. Never really got fixed.

Consoles: Atari 5200, NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Xbox 360, PS3

It all depends on the user and how much you take care of it.
I had a vaio last 6 years because I bought an external and stored everything on that. In that way I was able to re-format once a year to keep it in perfect working order. That's the real secret to using PCs responsibly.

Anyways, Vaios are a little overpriced and often don't have a very good video card. Go to Ibuypower.com or some similar website, they often offer decent gaming pcs at low cost.

I have a Vaio CR31Z (think they discontinued it in favour of the CR42Z).

Looks the bomb, my fingers glide over what I consider to be the perfect keyboard, and its functionality is incredible.

Vaio laptops are wicked.

My friend got one a couple of years ago and it broke after a year. I'm not sure if Sony has gotten better quality with thier laptops. Gaming laptops usually costs a lot, how much are you thinking about spending.

the most expensive have have blu ray drives and the best LCD i have ever seen.

also carbon fiber materials.

You always have to be careful of why people say they broke. FYI, not saying any of you are bad sources, but still.

Breaking to one person is that the screen died, while to another it's that the battery died.

Worked in IT at a computer shop. The Vaio was the most brought in broken laptop ever. The Vaio was the biggest stack. Then again to be fair the Vaio sold a lot back then.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Thanks for all the replys. I don't know how much i want to spend. I may not get a Vaio because i know they are expensive. I want one though, so i wanted the opinions of others about them.

Does anyone know about the all-in-one computers?

I only see all-in-one computerson on their website and best buy's. Are you looking for an attractive tower or just something for gaming?
