Forums - Gaming Discussion - Square-Enix - Multiplatform is the way to go

The statement is directed to the X360 I think. He wouldn't point out that (...) in each territory, there are platforms that are more or less popular than in other territories.

This is only true for the 360. The Wii is strong everywhere and the PS3 weak everywhere (granted, a little less weak in Europe but that doesn't make a difference regarding this topic). The 360, however, is strong in America, mediocre in Europe and close to non-existant in Japan.

No, he said all platforms. If not why is this on gonintendo?

Of course he says all platforms because they are developing games for all platforms, but that they bring games to the Wii was pretty clear before. However, his reasoning why they are going multiplatform is directed to the 360 as I said. Therefore, I would take this statement as a hint that, maybe, some important games will hit the 360. (Star Ocean on both 360 and PS3 maybe, and with a lot of luck even FFXIII not PS3-exclusive.

actually square did support the genesis with a single game during it's life time, bahamut lagoon, I think,

I HAVE A DOUBLE DRAGON CAB IN MY KITCHEN!!!!!!

NOW A PUNISHER CAB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You said LOL if FF XIII goes multiplatform...

It was known that the game will be a compilation meaning, a bunch of games on different systems.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

it would be great if it were released for 360

technically you can make a game that work on all 3 console, its like PC developer making a game work on 3 different video card with 3 different cpu structure. Just need to build an engine that works on all three console.

they all can run a same game, just one system run it with all the eye candy turn ON with high resolution, while the weaker system run in on low res with no eye candys turn on.

This is not news. He said the same statement months ago.... and now the 360 gets a MMO FFXIII game and IU...

There is nothing there except for what fanboys what it to say...

That statement doesn't mean DQX won't be exclusive to the Wii because we all know it will etc..... He is referring to the fact that they are involved with games on all platforms, not that they are making every game available on every system.

The line, "there are platforms that are more or less popular than in other territories," is complete bull. The Wii is equally popular in all territories, so "To truly make an impact on the gaming scene," they'd just have to release their games on the Wii. By the end of this generation, just about every gamer will have one.

It's obvious they're explicitly referring to the 360 and going multiplat ps3/360. I also think that this is stupid, considering how horrible Blue Dragon has done in Japan/NA, and how horrible Eternal Sonata is doing in Japan. Of course, they could just mean going multiplat with newer titles like the Last remnant that may actually do somewhat okay on the 360.

I think that multiplat ps3/360 would be pretty pointless. Multiplat ps3/Wii would make a lot of sense from a sales perspective, but is unfeasible from a developing perspective.

NO ONE SAW THE MICROSOFT CONFERENCE ON GAMETRAILERS OH MY GOD X____X.

SE announces Infinite undiscovery for X360 and PS3, talks more about the last renmant on PS3 and X360. = That is what they mean way to go multiplatform.

I don't trust SE anymore.
