High Voltage Software are the best.

really??? since when?

To be fair, to say there are a certain number of enermy on screen at a time is pointless. Look at any Dynasty warriors games if you are confused as to what I'm saying.

leave it to kingofwale to bring the negativity to the thread >_>

I would say the Conduit is big-ish.  It's not CoD:MW2 or anything but HVS has bet the company's life savings on The Conduit and are giving it everything they've got.  It'll be the absolute best title they can make it, but it still wouldn't compare to a major Capcom, SE, Activision, Ubisoft or EA game.  Some will argue that, and I hope they prove me wrong but don't expect it.

But having bet the bank on the Conduit HVS does not have the means to make another 2 similar sized games.   At least not until they start reaping the rewards of the Conduit.

Hoping they're going to put out some more quality support for the Wii ^^

Something you people need to know is... most of the games they made with a horrible score.
Those are LICENSED games.
They have a deadline, and almost no say what goes in it.
Thats why they waited so long before getting a publisher, so they could get a large amount of work done without it being taken over.

I own all of lastgen systems as of October 2008. (Finally got a Dreamcast)

I own every currentgen system except PS3.

I agree. It really tells you nothing about the game. There's no reason to assume that more enemies on screen will in any way make a game better, either. Would Mario Kart be more fun with more racers on the course? How about Little Mac fighting 65 boxers at once?

Some games are designed around having a legion of stupid enemies to fight, and it makes sense, like Dead Rising. But it's more important to find the number of enemies that fits your game mechanics than to just assume that more is better.

Don't forget that this 'new game' is going to be on their Quantum3 engine, not some Dynasty Warriors crud.  It likely won't look as good as the Conduit with that many characters, but it seems like their goal with this engine is to show that the Wii can do things a lot of developers don't believe it can do.

Then again, I'm just a figment of your imagination, so what do I know...

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

No, no. You raise a good point. Besides, I find that talking to myself is the only way I can be assured of intelligent conversation.

These guys seem genuinely interested in making good games for the Wii, built specifically for the Wii. I applaud them for that, and I look forward to their games.

I don't think Conduit will sell that much. It could be the best FPS on all consoles. It still won't sell that much. It's not that the Wii can't have consoles, but a little to late is very appropriate at this point. If the Wii launched with some solid FPS shooters rather than gimps then that would be another story, but a majority of FPS fans aren't going to buy a second or third console for a generic FPS.

Handling number of enemies on screen is easy. Keeping their polys and fillrate high is another matter. Wii could easily handle 10,000 2d enemies. Games like Shogun built for 500mhz Intels could handle that. Seems like HVS want's to prove that other console devs like Capcom are just lazy.

I personally think HVS will make fine games. I firmly believe that Sega will let them down. Like they let other companies down.
