Notice how few people are calling GT5 overhyped and yet Killzone 2 is considered overhyped? A game is considered over-hyped pre-release when the game itself would struggle to live up to the hype thats been placed on it.

Ah so that's what it means.

I always knew Capt. Kirk was overhyped.

Captain Kirk is never overhyped. He always delivers.

Too much info Squilliam, too much info.

i.m.o all "hype" is "over hype", not a single game has ever lived up to the hype it has got.

What about "underhyped" games?

MGS4 did! I suggest you play it!

Here is how it works from what I know on the Sony side.

If you say nothing until the game releases you are fine.

If you say anything positive about a game releasing soon it = overhype.

I am not so sure about that one, I have found plenty of games that have lived up to my own anti-hype.

Haha, I think you might be right.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, say anything bad (e.g MAG graphics) and it's damage control before a game comes out.

I never understood the whole "over-hype" mantra. If people want to be excited by a game, then let them be excited. At worst they'll be disappointed when the game finally comes out and it does not live up to their own over-inflated expectations, but they only did it to themselves.
