Forums - Gaming Discussion - What if Nintendo made a mature title?

They have. Has noone here played Eternal Darkness? It's a first-party Mature title for the GameCube, and it's awesome. Don't read any in-depth reviews though or it will ruin your experience.

2004 Lincoln LSV8 - ~$15,000

K&N Cold Air Intake - $300

Handheld ECU Reprogrammer - $400

The look on a ricer's face when they get their ass beat off the line by a Lincoln - Priceless

It was a Second Party Title ... Silicone Knights left Nintendo and are now working on Too Human for the XBox 360 ... Too Human ... That sounded like a cool game when it was announced in 1996

I have played that game. I think the story is flimsy imo and the gameplay isn't incredibly strong but I kept playing the game for one reason. Much laughter ensued after. @Alacritst What I would like to see would be something similar to mario RPG. I would like to see a mature showdown between mario and bowser. A mario game that has a tone more like "Spawn". Have the Koopas be outrageously violent and evil looking. Have mario do away with the jumping and give him a sledgehammer and flamethrower...... oh and make peach a stripper in distress.

To a certain extent I think Nintendo has been looking for a studio like this but has had difficulty; in 2005 Nintendo published Geist by N-Space which had a Mature rating, if Geist was a better game or sold better I wouldn't have been surprised to hear that N-Space was aquired by Nintendo.
I didn't realize that game was M, but if it was, then I think Geist is a great example. Sure it was second party, but I remember reading that Miyamoto worked with the dev team on that one, meaning that Nintendo definately had a hand in it. Were Nintendo to make one of their franchises a Mature rated title, my money would be in Kid Icarus, just because it's an old enough franchise that its announcement wouldn't get too many kids excited about it.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

"Kid Icarus" as a Mature title name.... now THAT is irony. ;)

Nobody is crazy enough to accuse me of being sane.

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes was a co-developed by Nintendo and Silicon Knights, it was rated mature. That's strange the 2 games rated mature that were made by Nintendo had a lot of help from Silicon Knights.

The N needs mature games, the GC got creamed in america due to it's massive kiddie content. Why anybody over the age of 12 in the us want to play nothing but kiddie games? This is one of the reasons I ditched the N in favor of sony and ms...Better games and more games I like. I hate kiddie games.

I don't understand why people try to push Mature games on Nintendo all the time...there are a few games out there...and people shouldn't be judging games solely on their rating. Personally, I don't care...although I don't think I can see Nintendo even wanting to make a "Grand Theft Auto" or "Halo" (the two top selling "mature" franchises) type game anytime soon. That's not their style. Of course there's always "No More Heroes" if you want uber violent on a Nintendo system.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
