I'm pretty sure that EA is contractually obligated to release Madden on every platform.  If their other sport contracts are similar, there would be no point for EA to make their own console.

 

 I am pretty sure the NFL is the only one like that.

The deal is that the NFL won't license any other software companies, in return for EA releasing their games on all platforms. I suspect the arrangement is too profitable for EA to give up, but if they were so inclined I bet they could back out easily; in all likelyhood the contract has to be renewed every year.
