ok, let's get this straight... some people these days are making the stupidest claims so I want to make sure people are claiming this:

1. MHG is a years old PS2 game.

2. It is ported to the PSP where it finds new life and sells well. (After all, becoming mobile adds to the game).

3. Most of the people in Japan who are interested in MHG would already own it..

4. It comes to wii, a years old port of a PS2 game, which has already found success selling to people who want this game... it adds nothing new except now you got to pay to play online, which was previously free, and 92K first day sales is no good???

Ok so if this is you, please quote me and say so just so we all can see who you are and what type of brain you have! Thanks.

This. Which sold more, Super Mario 64 DS or Super Mario 64 VC? Hint: it isn't the version that only cost $10.

[NDS] Mezase!! Tsuri Master DS (Hudson) - 1,500 (7%)

That developer should pull out of Japan soon :) That's another tremendous success on their side after Deca Sports 2 :D

The main reason of MHG sold great is because of this

Monster Hunter classic controller which is come with special package !

LOLOL

That's the SE. Wtach the sales of the other version ;)

Some people need to get their head off their asses before they speak; PSP Monster Hunters NEVER HAD ANY SORT OF ONLINE PLAY, FREE OR NOT. It was previously available only to the PS2 versions, also pay-to-play.

On topic, see it this way :
Halo 3 just released and sold millions and millions; then, Bungie decides to toss into the market a port of Halo 1 to the next Xbox iteration bundled with a demo of Halo4.

NOTE: ported Halo 1 with nothing added at all, not better graphics, new content, etc. How would you expect it to sell!? If anything, all buyers would be those so hot for Halo4, almost noone buying Halo1 + demo for the port itself as they would already have two better options available in the market (also at a lower price) : Halo 2 & Halo 3 which have tons of new content and assets.

The same applies here: why millions and millions of people should flock to buy a expensive game they already own, while also having other versions offering so much more (MHP2G has twice the content MHP2 does-while the last has twice the content MHP1 has-which itself has much less content than MHG for PS2, now ported to Wii)? They only purchsed for the demo itself, and that shows tremendous loyalty to the series and its popularity nowadays.

I still stand by my prediction in my bet; about MHG, I think the Wii version will easily break 500k in Japan.

Monster Hunter G Wii is probably going to outperform the opening week of Monster Hunter (119K) and Monster Hunter G (128k week one) on PS2.

The PS2 base was 18m units when Monster Hunter G came out, the Wii base is 8m units when it came. For a four year old port on a base thats 4/9 the PS2 size its a very solid result.

I think TheSource just ended the discussion

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

I may very well win my bet with Nightstriker

Pixel Art can be fun.

crap. I didn't know there was a hardware bundle. looks like my Wii prediction will be WAY to low.

EDIT: after reading farther, I realize it was the special controller bundle, so I'm safe for now
