Forums - Gaming Discussion - Virtual Console issues?

Nintendo currently has the longest (free)warranty at 15 months when you register online, and ties with SONY and MS at 12 months without registering. It might help to actually know what you're talking about before posting.

And pay some ungodly ammount to have it fixed. Pay some ungodly amount to have it fixed!! Where did you get that from. I don't think if your system broke for a freakish reason you have to pay for it. My ds had a cracked hinge, that's it. You know what they did? They sent me a brand new one for free. I didn't even pay shipping and handling. Your right this is an issue, but I don't think something like you describe will happen. $400 in VC games, that's ridiculous. I think the only way that would happen would be over a long period of time, by which this issue will be solved already. Your overthinking it. It's almost like your trying to find faults on purpose....... Your DS was under warrenty tho. the Wii has a 90 day warrenty. My warrenty is up in like a week. I'm gonna be stuck paying nintendo to fix it... if I wanna keep my VC games. EDIT: It's not broke... not yet at least. lol
90 day warranty? It has a 15 month Warranty... I had nintendo even repair my SNES OUT of warranty way back when and they did it for free... Nintendo C.S. is damn good... Also I find myself wondering why you link you VC account to your "My Nintendo" account.. Isn't there a way they could keep track of your purchases independent from your wii's internal memory? I mean if they do that, you may not get your spare points back but you'd get your games probably..

Kwaad - say after 3 years your Wii dies, and you buy a new one. You then can send it to Nintendo (with the old one), and they will xfer the games for you - for free. There is a problem? Do you think Sony or MS have a different approach? Actually yes - its worse (from my understanding). You buy a game, then download it once. That's it - natta else. If you want a new system, or your old one dies - you buy the games again. No xfer over system. {sigh}

shams - you never read my post did you? I have downloaded flOw to 2 PS3s. So... your point on saying you can download it once is stupid. The purchaces are linked to you PSN account. Not your PS3. Ok so you have a 15month warrenty. Not 3 month. I'm sorry. I rember reading somewhere it was 90day. Ok, your Wii blows up after 18 months. (oh yeah. suck on that) You now have about 800$ worth of VC games. Your wii smokes. You buy a new Wii. You ship 2 Wii's to nintendo. ~20$ Nintendo bills you about 30$ to ship them back. You just paid 50$ to keep your games. That is if they do it for free. Do you think *they* will pay the 20-40$ of shipping FOR you? You people need to stop worshiping nintendo... Hot damn. EDIT: And if I'm not mistaken even if you can save your VC games to a memory card, that dont help, becuase it's linked to your Wii#. Not you. So you have your 10,000$ of VC games saved on your memory card. Your Wii smokes... You format that memory card, beucase it will NEVER work on another Wii. (and if it does, just create a BT on the internet, and download all of nintendo's VC games for free) It has to be linked to the Wii. As long as it's linked to the Wii. Your Wii smokes. Your VC games are smoked too.

Yes it's linked to your wii # but I think you don't have to mail it, if you live by Nintendo headquarters they'll take it and do it for you in a very short while, I've had this done myself, not with the Wii but I've had them fix my N64. I also think some registered shops may have it available in the near future(that's up to Nintendo but it'd be a smart move don't you think?) I'd also like to add among EVERY system, most factory problems(Things that are fault of production or whatever) show up within the first 12-15 months(I've worked at a shop before). It'd put PS3 & 360 at a higher risk for breaking out of warranty. 800$ is kind of a high estimate for VC games though >.> that 1,600 NES games lol Not even sure there are that many. I guess someone will eventually go for their lungs on VC >.> but again I hope they do something about it being linked to your my Nintendo where they can figure which games you've purchased. And just go through tech support and restore it to your new system while changing the registration from the old wii to the new one.

See I understand that, but there's a few problems with doing it the way the PS3 does it. First of all As I said. I've downloaded it to 2 PS3s. :) I didnt complete the download on the 2nd one. But still I started it. Sony's downloadable network has already been hacked. And you can download quite a few of the pay games for the PS3 off the internet. (dont pm me asking me how. I dont do it, and I dont plan on doing it... search the web) If nintendo un-links the VC games from the Wii#... or allows shops to change the machine's Wii number... There's gonna be thousands of Wii's with the same Wii#... all with every VC game. (nintendo wont provide them service but the VC games linked to that number will work) Nintendo has the perfect system for people not stealing the VC games. The problem is. It royally screws the customer. I think it is a smart move by nintendo. I think it is a crappy move for the customer. I'm not gonna buy more VC games because of this until they announce the VC games are NOT linked to the Wii code.

nono I think I didn't word it well enough. I meant that they could relink the Wii games to a new wii console not change the consoles #. This is unlikely you'd probably have to go through tech support prove "name" is your account etc and then they may be able to help you that way. Not entierley impossible.

Your talking about moving it serverside. That idea works, but the problem is, I would require seeing the dead console, becuase it could already have all the games downloaded to it. That console has 1,000$ of VC games saved on it. I could sell that Wii on e-bay for 500$. Every 12months move it to a new wii number. Nintendo would require to see the console themselves. Wich would cost you shipping. (both ways) for at least 1 machine.
