Surprised you haven't finished it yet though? I don't remember it being that hard? (haven't finished it this time around yet though...:>). I didn't play it as often as other games when I was a kid, I have been focusing on it now though. I still think it is incredibly difficult. I mean, can someone beat it without the code?
I'll give it a try now ;) Actually been playing a bit of Galaga - more old-school goodness. Not as good as the arcade, but still a bit of fun - doing a lot better than I remember ever doing before. I'll let you know how I go with Gradius... LOL :)

Ohh Contra! Yummy!! Didn't know that was out (in the US?) yet... we certainly don't have it :(

Yeah, it's real fun, I was thinking about getting Donkey Kong Country as well

I've got ehm -Gambare Goemon Yuki Hime Kyuushutsu Emaki (SF) -Hoshi no Kirby (Famciom) -Zelda Ocarina of Time (N64, take my advice, to get everything out of the game, play the cardridge or disc version!) -Mario Kart 64 (N64) -Legend of Zelda (Famicom) -Fire Emblem Monsho no Nazo (SF) -Ecco (megadrive = genesis in the US) -Donkey Kong (SF) -Ristar (MD) -Akumajou Dracula (aka Castlevania, SF) -Mario 64 (N64) -Legend of Zelda Kamigami no Triforce (SF) -Sonic the Hedgehog (MD) -R-Type (PC Engine) -Super Mario Bros (FM) Kirby, Sonic, Zelda for the SF (SNES), Mario 64, Donkey Kong for the SF, Fire Emblem and Goemon are amazing!!! Don't know for the US emulation but the Ecco game has some leftdowns in the JP version. Too bad, game looks so nice. And still need to download a few like Mario Picross, Fire Emblem Seisen no Keifu, Super Mario World, Shin Megami Tensei, Donkey Kong for the Famicom (NES).... Nintendo has a good customer when it comes to downloading Virtual Console games Too bad the VC doesn't support rumble, therefore slight of a problem with Zelda Ocarina of Time... Plus the VC version of Zelda OOT shows the cardridge controls, while the Cube version shows the actual GC controls.

I've only got Mario64 (which I don't like) and OoT (which I'm currently playing through and very much do like). I'm looking forward to Sonic 2, and TMNT 1 for NES. p.s. in regards OoT on the Wii, while the mis-match between the button instructions on screen and the controller you're using can be a bit confusing at first, on the up-side the Wii up-scales the graphics, and I get the impression the GC port suffers from slowdown it doesn't on the Wii.

Forgot to put, I have Mario Kart 64 too

Zelda: Link to the Past Gunstar Heros Superstar Soldier SMB Legend of Kage Kirby Dungeon Explorer (I don't like this one) Would anyone suggest Ecco? I really want Streets of Rage 2.

I'm experiencing the exact same slowdown from time, especially when going and leaving the menu-screen with start, which I have with the GC version. The GC version has the exact same graphics on the WII in progressive stand, as you can play Gamecube games on progressive in your WII for example, at least my JP games can. The reason why I say that to get everything out of the game will be impossible without rumble is that the game gives a special rumble feature to get hidden items, and with the VC version you're missing them Luckily this game and MM are the only ones with special rumble features on the N64, as far as I know, with most N64 games you don't really miss it. I had to copy my Virtual Console games to a SD card as my HD memory is getting tight now Too bad you can't play the games directly from the SD card but they need to be copied / stay on the WII (your WII, the games won't work on other WII's) to play them.

It absolutely kicked my butt last night ;) I'll try again tonight. Did the NES version have a continue option? I don't remember it being *this* hard. I think the only way I'll be able to beat it, is without dying - once you die, there is a good chance you'll lose ALL your lives at the same time/place. Also noticed its one of these games that scales up the difficulty, based on how many weapons/items you have. Not nice :P
