Forums - Gaming Discussion - What is your opinion of Resident Evil 5?

Do like the new direction the series is heading? Is Resident Evil 4 the better game? Was the game too short? What did you think?

I personally thought the game lack an incredible amount of atmosphere and personality when compared to RE4. Chris Redfield seems to have devolved into a steriod-eating moron of a protagonist, and certain someone from previous RE titles had a makeover at the worst possible time. Not to mention Sheva's terrible A.I..

All in all, the gameplay stayed largely the same (which is a good thing). But I wish Resident Evil 5 had more personality and story-line like Resident Evil 4. Resident Evil 5, While good, is a step back for the series in my eyes. I think it's devolving into a mindless action shooter.

Your Opinions?

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

The game was good, no doubt. It featured some very cool bosses as well, but that one where you have to lay down proximity mines(can't remember when it was in the game) was huge pain in the ass.

i didnt like it to much mostly the location, atmosphere and the AI partner, re4 was more memorable for me than 5 but i liked the olders re better mostly re12 and code veronica

it wasnt to short for me

re6 needs some serious changes in the gameplay and lets get out of these 3rd world areas and if u want coop just have the extra partner appear wen playing online or local MP single player should only be one player that goes for most all games too

id give the game a 7.8 out of 10 its a better experience though after you go through it a few times and have unlimited ammo on the good weapons

It was enjoyable. I bought it for Xbox 360 and unlocked over 1000 achievement points. I intend to get the PS3 version when I find it cheap to unlock Trophies. Definitely worth the $60 I paid for it.

II don't mind where the series is headed. RE4 was a perfect example of how amazing the new system can be and to answer your question yes, it was a much better game, especially if you played the complete version on Wii.

RE5 wasn't too short, didn't mind the length at all to be honest. The controls were the same as before so no complaints in that department. There were certain A.I elements which pissed the fuck out of me though. example: I'm trying to save my partner from a boss and I'm picking up the five hundred items that there are near the two of them. All in all, the co-op was good enough though.

My biggest problem with RE5 was the fact that it was not scary at all. People who claim that this is just the way RE games are now are the ones that need to re-check their sources. At the end of the games demo it says "fear you will never forget" or some shit like that. Well, to tell you the truth, there was no fear to forget in the game. They also didn't do anything special with the bosses. In RE4 I was pinned against two Giants in a big ass lava room. It goes without spoiling that there was no boss fight in RE5 that came even close to this.

All I know is that it's a blast to play co-op.

no they werent compared to re4 the fights went down a notch come on most of the boss fights were u on a chain gun having to press buttons to dodge attacks and then shooting in one area of the boss

The Gigantes and Los Dos Gigantes from 4 were better boss battles than re5s u werent strapped down onto a chain gun and shooting a boss 2 feet from u u had freedom to move around

and the popokarima from chapter 2.2 was justa slow passed bore fest

I thought the boss closer to the end with the flamethrower was pretty good in RE5. And the return of the El Giangte was also a major letdown that much I'll definitely agree too.
