You wanna have your opinion, then you have to respect different opinions as well.

Funny but there was a lot of Sony fans defending the terrible failure rate of the PS2 last generation. Perhaps its nothing to do with any particular set of fans at all but rather you're reading into something that is a simple of fact of any consumer who buys a product that they enjoy. Despite the poor failure rate on the 360 I'd estimate (as thats all I can do) that at least 50% of those who bought a 360 haven't had a problem, from their point of view the console might be fantastic.

A lot of smokers will live their life saying they enjoy smoking, when they're unfortunate enough to suffer a terminal illness which smoking contributed to cigarettes become the greatest evil. Obviously this is far more serious than a console failing but its the same sort of mentality a person has. Until you have a bad experience its easier to deny a problem exists.

For the record I'm both a smoker and a 360 owner and think cigarettes should be banned from sale and the 360 reliability rate is shocking. Don't know if this post makes any sense to others though.

i am sorry to tell you this but the ps2 disc problems were solved after a year. and RRoD still it's a problem in it's 4th year.

if it still was a problem my ps2 should have die already and never have given me a problem.

considering the hardcore time i spent with it, =P i finish FFX in a week. 10 hours a day =P

Regarding the bold, I assume you read the first line or two of my post then just ignored everything else didn't you?  I don't blame you for doing so because it was a little long winded but anecdotal evidence of one system or even 10 systems still working doesn't mean the problem was fixed.  My 360 is over 2 years old and hasn't failed, I guess they fixed the issues then!  Sounds absurd doesn't it when you put it like that.  Some systems will never fail (within their usage lifespan), others will.

Your post kind of confirmed everything I wrote regarding why fans defend their system of choice.  I'm glad you got so much joy from your Sony product to feel the need to try and correct my post.  Also it wasn't fixed after the first year but thats a story for another time.

M$ said that 35 percent of all Xbox 360 have had the RROD,the launch models that is.

Now when the Xbox 360 first year,it sold 5 million, lets do the math PS3 fans.

35% of 5 000 000 = 1 750 000

And M$ Fixed them ALL for FREE!

actually i didn't know ps2 had problem til i got in to this forum so i read sony moved fast and corrected the problem after after launch, thats meansn around 2001-2002. my 2003 console it's turning 6 years in some months and neither of my friends similar date ps2 had disc problems.

which you know everything have disc problems until now, notebooks, pc , wii, but that was never as big as killing the console without a tricky repair.

i am not defending the ps2 i said i never known it had problems, i neither owned a ps1, if sony got it right the third time? bad luck for microsoft since they didn't in their second.

either way ps2 failure rate wasn't as bad the 360, unless u can find study to prove it so, so if you think what i am saying it's bullshit feel free to bring up reliable contend to prove it so.

@Jo21 - I didn't say it was worse than the 360 but its certainly up there as one of the worst consoles for reliability after the 360 too. Like you'd find no official evidence to prove the 360's reliability record the same is true of the PS2. When you consider a class action lawsuit was launched against Sony over the disk drive failure rate that in itself suggest there was a widespread issue people experienced.

Either way my point was that fans of the PS2 who never had an issue and loved the console will always praise it and rebuff peoples criticisms on it. I'm fine with that and I can understand why the same happens with the 360 now.

@ vaio

Thee you go lying again, there is no 3 year warranty in EU.

Europe used to have a 1 year waranty for electronics but since the EU enforced a new law it was extended to 2 years and thats for all electronics not only Sony ones.

I used to work in an electronics shop so I know about warranties which is were we made the best money by selling extended warranty and if there were a 3 year warranty in EU we wouldn´t be able to sell a 3 year extended warranty.

Here in the Netherlands, the consumer-authority is now actively seeking to take care of dealers who misinform consumers like that. Extended warrantees are often like "selling sigars to consumers from one's own box", the consumer authority states:

http://www.telegraaf.nl/overgeld/rubriek/consument/3716796/__Bijgekochte_extra_garantie_sigaar_uit_eigen_doos__.html

Manufacturer or "extended" warranty cannot limit the legal warranty, the PS3's minimal life expectance is at least 3 years (for other products this may be 2). If there are no signs of abuse, abnormal usages, etc you can hold the dealer into account for taking care of these issues totally free of charge. It then regards a "faulty product".

The laws in the Netherlands are more extensive regarding warranty than in other countries, for many products legal warranty can last for many more years. Legal warranty is based on minimal normal life expectance.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."
