I want to buy one of those games, but unfortunatelly, on the wii, the guitar from one game doesn't work on the other. So I have to pick one. What would it be and why?

I'd say pick up Rockband later this year if u are a beatles fan otherwise Guitar Hero because Activision 'supports' GH more

Only the Les Paul from guitar Hero 3 is compatible with Rock Band 1. Nothing else. It's the same as having no compatibility at all.
In the other hand the les pauls for 360 works on a bunch of musical entries from both franchises.
GH: WT instruments are compatible with Rock Band 2.
Buy both, first you buy GH World Tour, GH: WT instruments are compatible with Rock Band 2, but not the other way around. Then you buy Rock Band 2, especially if you have friends to play with.
And you have to buy GH: Metallica is GREAT!, if you are not a big fan of the band you can wait till they lower the price, but you HAVE to buy it, the song work perfectly for a GH game, and its very hard, but no artificial hard like GH3.

I heavily prefer Rock Band over guitar hero, but that's a matter of taste.
I own all of lastgen systems as of October 2008. (Finally got a Dreamcast)
I own every currentgen system except PS3.

I'd say guitar hero, especially with GH:SH coming soon, yay for GH1,2,3 and Rt80s tracks!
