Forums - Website Topics - VGChartz IM needs... improvement.

As of this Post 3 members are currently in VGChartz IM. 363 Members are logged in to VGChartz as a whole.

This totals to less than 1% VGChartz IM usage. So, obviously we have a function in the website that no one appears to be using. At all, infact as it stands only 1 of those 3 members are actually in a chatroom. The other two have the IM window open, maybe to recieve private messages but the likelihood of that occurring, not to mention the likelihood of them responding is low.

Infact, bear with me. Let me test this one out.

Alright, back. I sent the two members a message. Let's see if they respond before the end of this post.

Now, I am aware that later in the day, particularly at night VGChartz IM spikes quite a bit. But it never seems to have any great number of members actively chatting. At most I've seen 13 members in a single chatroom, with about 8 or so of them talking. I have a few suggestions I believe that would vastly improve the VGChartz IM experience. Hear me out here.

  • Reduce the cost of getting VGChartz IM to $250, or even better. $100.
  • Add offical chatrooms based off the forums. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, Gaming, Website, Off-Topic.
  • Attempt to moderate the chatrooms.
  • Have Sony Chatroom about Sony only. No talking Microsoft or Nintendo. Same for the other 2, visa versa.
  • Still have the ability to make your own chatroom. Free beer must not fall.

The idea I'm striving for is to create a community of which VGChartz members can talk to eachother about the systems they enjoy, the games they enjoy. Share experiences and of course game together. Hopefully this will bring the community closer together as a whole.

Also, the two members have not responded as of this paragraph. 6 minutes since I messaged them.

I know I don't usually go on because nobody else every goes on.. It'll be really good for E3 discussion hopefully but even Nintendo's GDC keynote.. It had like 6 people there.. I paid for IM just for the keynote and it ended up being.. 4 people talking and 2 people on for no apparent reason..

But anyway I'm going on right now :P

Good things come to those who wait. We have plans for VGC IM

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I really think it's because people didn't realize that they reduced the price. I know that was the reason for me at least.

1,250 is reasonable in my mind. Maybe make it 1,100 because I believe you start off with 1,000 for joining and then I think people should be part of the community before jumping into the IM to get rid of needless trolls.

Or place a post requirement on it. Say 500 posts or VGChartz Regular in order to sign up.
