Forums - General Discussion - Do you spend a lot of money on people you date?

I have spent thousands on a girl before
Never again
Unless we're happily married with kids

Personally, I paid for all our entertainment and food whenever we went out. I bought here a $100 necklace the summer before I proposed (I already knew I was going to, was just waiting to get a ring and other things in line first) On birthdays, Christmas, and valentines day I would spend $30-50 on her.

Of course, I would keep the spending in check, and we would do lots of stuff for free or cheap.

So overall I would say I spent more than enough, but wouldn't classify it as anyone taking advantage of me or anything.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

I would only spend a lot of money if I had it which I don't on a woman that looked like Holly Madison.

I will not take a woman that weighs more than a certain amount to Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse, or Friday's and I would even consider McDonald's to be risky on some.

And it's a biological thing rather than being shallow.  Naturally a woman that weighs over 150 lbs is going to require too much more food than one that weighs 115 or 130, and the reward isn't worth the effort on the bigger models.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

I guess me and my boyfriend are kind of crazy then...we spend like $300 on eachother for christmas..$150ish for birthdays...anniversarys etc.

I loveee to buy him stuff so it doesn't bother me.

I spend a lot of money, but I am also smart enough to date woman that are not interested in just money.

For Christmas a few years ago, I got her a MacBook. Last year, due to us planing a wedding and all the costs associated with it, I bought her nothing of any value, and she didn't care.

Money to me is a translation of your time. If it takes you two weeks to earn X number of dollars, and you give her something that cost X dollars, you gave her two weeks worth of effort.

If she is worth your time, give it to her :)

I don't spend practically anything. Sometimes a beer or a meal at McDonalds tops.

I'm very cheap lol.

This is how I approach it, except I haven't progressed to anywhere near marriage.  I pay for meals and entertainment, and I'll spend ~$30 for all the occassions early on, with it approaching $50 the longer it lasts.  I try to do things that are creative and cheap, though, in place of those kinds of things and gifts.  You don't always have to go somewhere expensive for a date, or out at all sometimes.
