Forums - Sony Discussion - RUMOR: Final Fantasy XIII Demo is 5.9GB

People will download the demo, even if it was 10gigs, LOL.

If it is 5gigs, the download speed is going to be crawling, both on Xbox Live and PSN, with all those people trying to download it at the same time.

Has any ps3 game used full blu ray disk space?

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/03/02/kojima-mgs4-too-big-for-50-gb-blu-ray-disc/

That game was totally uncompressed IIRC, plus it included MGO on the same disc.

.......point?

It still ansewered the question about a ps3 game that actually used the full bluray space.

OK, even so, that doesn't mean that there will ever be a game which uses more than one BD, which was my primary point.

If any game this generation uses 2 BDs I will be shocked, thats a 100gig game.

Yeah look at PC games still using DVD-DL like 360. I wouldn't doubt an oddball company creates one to be in Guiness record holder.

Or could just be a 50-60GB game. Dual layered BD doesn't hold exactly 50GB.

When I played Final Fantasy X, it seemed there had to be at least 10 hours of plain cinema scenes. Now put 10 hours of hd cinema scenes in this game when 2 minutes of an hd trailer for doa 360 takes up 2 gigs, that means there would be 600 gigs of cinema scenes on ps3 alone.

Total amount of CGI in FFX was only around 35-40 minutes. Much of it was in-game.

Sigh. A blu-ray disc holds 25 Gb of data. A dual layer holds 50 GB, and the PS3 can support up to 32 layers(confirmed by pioneer), right now only 4 layer discs exist for production. There is absolutely no way for it to use more then one disc on PS3, why do people keep thinking it will?

WOW!!!! I seriously did not know that! 32 layers? That is INSANE!!!!

I doubt the whole 5gigs was spent on the demo. If it was it was probably redundent dat as to ensure the demo worked flawlessly without hesitation. Most demos for disc based games take up a gig or so.

The 360 version will most definitely have multiple discs, there is no getting around that, but this demo does not "prove" it. Yet the question of severe quality compression on 360 vs. PS3 downgraded to suit 360 still stands(which is my greatest fear).

PSN:Forevercloud (looking for Soul Sacrifice Partners!!!)

Demo disc also contained the FFVXIII and Agito trailer on it.

I thought they were on the ACC extras disc.
