Mark my words. The PS3 will never have a game that ships with more than one BD this gen.

wow , care to explain why?

XD

Well, slowmo made a very good point earlier about companies trying to maximize revenue, but there are other reasons.

-One arguable advantage that the PS3 has over the 360 is that the 360 needs to swap disks, and I think Sony would go the route of compression before they gave up that advantage.

-Speaking of compression, has any PS3 game used it yet? Will any need to? If a game goes over the space limit, wouldn't the smarter move be to compress the data rather than pay a large sum of money in production costs for a second disc?

LOOOOOL

dude, i was being sarcastic.

because u kinda stated the obvious and then said  "qoute me" XD

Well, I was just responding to the people above who said this game would be one 1-2 BD

I guess my sarcasm detector is broken

Has any ps3 game used full blu ray disk space?

That game was totally uncompressed IIRC, plus it included MGO on the same disc.

EDIT: Also, that could have been an exagerration by Kojima, pre-release, that was used to try and garner awe/attention for his product.

I believe they will use a different video file than the ps3 for the cut-scenes, Microsoft has a couple out there like VC1 and WMVHD, which both compresses video, but still have good quality results, this will reduce the amount of data needed to fit on the disks.

The in-game assets will remain the same, and like I posted many times, I see 4 Dual-layerd DVDs max, that's about 30 gigs, plenty of space in my opinion, even for a final fantasy game.

.......point?

It still ansewered the question about a ps3 game that actually used the full bluray space.

The 360 will use a few disks. Meh I'll live

360 with lower audio quality could be lower size.

I don't think the 360 will need to compress sound files.

OK, even so, that doesn't mean that there will ever be a game which uses more than one BD, which was my primary point.

It's 5.09GB, not 5.9GB.
