Forums - Sales Discussion - Out of Pokémon, Mario and The Sims, which is most popular and successful?

I really hate Mario, always hated him, and the Sim too, but no one can dispute that Mario is the biggest in video game history.

In sales, yes. Though I believe The Sims series will catch the Mario franchise soon.

Around the Network

the sims is the most popular and successful series

If we're talking sales then Sims because of how much each one sold...

Pokemon is scary, no improvement to story, hardly to gameplay, just more pokemon to catch and slightly better animation.....

EDIT: When I think about it.... Pokemon seems like the biggest name of them all.... it has more than just games backing it up.

4 ≈ One

Pokemon

That series including the card games made Nintendo more money than the Playstation in total.

pokemon by far.

Pokemon and Pokemon. By, like, a planet of distance.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

mario games sold over 300 million copies, not 200, pokemon games over 200 i think

Nintendo is a constant in life. Nintendo is the place where you can always go to have a great time, whether that is alone or together with friends. Nintendo made dozens of all time classics which are more than just amazing games. Nintendo is a gaming company. Nintendo raised our sorry asses better than a parent ever could. Nintendo is a religion. Nintendo is what drove gaming forward and what continues to drive gaming forward. Nintendo saved gaming in the '80s. Nintendo is saving gaming again right now.

I'm actually going to say that I think Mario is way more popular in Japan than Pokemon. I went to Japan a few summers ago with my Japanese class (mainly just a bunch of guys goofing off the whole time) and almost no one in Japan knew what Pokemon was. They knew Mario really well, but didn't recognize Pokemon at all. Not even when a bunch of us (adult males) started singing the Pokemon theme song. It was really sad, but in hindsight, it was really fun making fools of ourselves.

The only thing they seem to care about over there is some "Pocket Monster" stuff. Sounds like crap.

Pokemon, far and away....

@WFZ haha, yeah Pocketo Monsuta is really popular over there they even had a volwswagen beetle made like one of the critters I think it was pikasomething...

Too bad they dont know pokemon ir its american theme song :P

As for the topic....

lets see, pokemon with just one game, its over 45 million copies, (red, green, blue, yellow, all the same game)
Mario with just one game over 40 million copies (Super Mario Bros)
Sims, is not even close to that :)

But you know, I think Wii series is really catching on quick enough, It has surpassed pokemon with over 45 million copies one Wii sports, and if we add Wii Fit and Wii Play and Wii Music its up to 90 million in just a little over two years, Now, that is impressive :)

Go Miis!
