If you getting PS3 version, then why bother to speculate on how much DVD it will be? :)

Something to talk about?

I might be getting it on PS3 but it does not mean that I do not care for the 360 version's quality.

JRPG are doing bad enough as it is this gen, last thing we need is a JRPG flagship title such as Final Fantasy having issues. We JRPG fans want to see as many sales as possible.

This post by Euphoria14 all the way. FF 13 needs to sell to both 360 and PS3 owners. Who knows, if it seels well on 360 for instance, maybe some of these FF13 buyers will further purchase games like LO, TOV etc. It would be good for Jrpg's in general.

The quality will be way lower on 360, else it would need 15 DVD's

4 DVD's

This.

Lost Odyssey has about 15 hours of cinematics. It came on 4 discs.

No way it was that much!

People are taking the quality issue out of hand.

RE2 back in the PS1 N64 days was around 1gb on PS1.

On N64 they fit it all on a 512mb cart. Overall the N64 looked better. I'm not saying that the CGI or such wont be od less quality but to the naked eye it wont bit much different. Compression has greatly improved since over 10 years ago. And it's widely known the compression that the 360 uses is very impressive.

Just so you know 4 360 discs will hold about 28gb. So if FF13 is about 50gb it will be 4 or 5 discs on 360.

It's not quite 20 hours. It's about 15. Bear in mind thats not all CGI. In Engine cutscenes also take up alot of MB's to, becasue the animation and graphics are slightly different. But yes ALL the cutscenes take up greatly more space than the rest of the information. :)

And if I remember right LO didn't have that many CGI cutscenes. Mostly done with game engine.

@ selnor - I completely agree with Lost Oddyssey setting the bar high. It will probably go down as the best new RPG of this gen. but FFXIII will still murder it.

;).

It's odd though. Media reviews aside, the actual people who have complaeted LO and all the FF's would definately have a different outlook than the media. Almost all posts on forums from people who have finished LO put it highly in Jrpg's. I'd say 80-90% hold LO in high rank. Then again people who have actually played FF1 - 12 on forums often will tell you that not all FF games are AAA ) Probably 40%. But the media reviews would make you believe otherwise. I think some of it has to do with getting older to. When I was 16 FF's cliche's of school boys and CGI was enough to impress. Now I'm not so impressed. Maybe thats why so many players say FF12 was horrible? One of the best things about LO was it's maturity. Not only in gameplay, but in life lessons. I guess I'm growing up. :)

And that's the problem with sites like Metacritic and those who follow that as a way to say which console has more "AAA exclusoves" than another. Anyways, I've never played LO (don't have a 360) but 3 of my friends that have very similar taste as me when it comes to RPGs said they didn't like it at all, one of them didn't even make it past the third disc.

I think we have differing definitions on cinematics (CGI) versus cutscenes.

My original point was that any type of cutscene takes up more memory on the discs. :)
