A few weeks around Halo 3 I think the 360's dominance over Wii is inevitable. But the 360 will still never exceed Wii's total sales ever again.

Well the 360 has no shot to take it back from the Wii. In Europe and expecially Japan the Wii just has too big of an advantage. Yeah it might spend a month or two ahead of the Wii in the US, but that will not make up for the over seas gap. This holiday season is all Nintendo, Wii and DS, I don't think there's any question, and that includes the US market as Halo hype dies down a bit. After that I don't see how the 360 ever comes back. The price will come down but I simply don't see the system ever attracting the casual gamer like the PS2 did.

I think the 50$ price drop made a better push than the Halo3 launch will do

NGS2 fans are people who played the NGS1 before on Xbox
Halo3 fans are people who played the Halo1/2 before on Xbox

I'm not saying that Halo3 will not have great sales particularly in NA.
I'm saying that Halo fans are in general Xbox owners and are in general Xbox owners.

It is the same for the Mario and the Wii

BUT

it is quite different with the PS3
FFXIII fans are PS2 owners BUT are not PS3 owners (not enought games + too expensive !!!)

Microsoft need to conquer the PS2 owners market and, in this purpose, having in his pocket the game of the year, BIOSHOCK, is a better weapon than possessing the sequel of a NO PS2 game like Halo.

If anybody has a chance to beat Wii it's 360 in USA+Europe.

Maybe if Wii turns out to be a fad, we might start to see 360 get relatively stronger in the next few months. It kind of seems to be happening already with Halo 3, etc..

You mean retaking the lead for one month in terms of WW sales, right? Because it is all but inevitable that the Wii will surpass the 360's NA user base next year and will continue to outsell it in every region.

1. You can't compair a handheld console to one that is stationary.

2. A lot of people do think the Wii is a fad (of course, not on this site).  Almost everyone that I know (in real life) that has one, is not a console/pc gamer.  They're parents or 10 year olds.

3. The only time I've ever enjoyed the Wii was while drunk.  When sober, it bores me to tears.  Why is that?

4.  Why would I want to play Wii golf in my living room when I can play real golf with my friends in the warm sun?  Why would I want to play Wii bowling in my living room when I could play real bowling with my girlfriend at the bowling alley? etc, you get the idea...

5. HDTVs are becoming cheaper and cheaper.  As more get sold people will want to buy a console capable of HD gaming.  Blu Ray and HDDVDs are selling more and more, people will want to watch HD movies which the Wii also can't do.

Right now the Wii is the "it" thing among non gamers.  It's the hip thing for older adults to get so they can play someting other then scategories or win, lose, or draw when they get together with their drunk friends.

people prob already bought or are buying 360's for halo 3 but ts not like on the day halo comes out there are gonna be tons of 360 sells....
