I think it will be the year of "HD" consoles.

SONY

GT5
GOW3
FF13 & Verses
Twisted Metal
Top secret Rockstar game
Probably a new LBP & KZ, too

360

Gears 3
Alien wake
Forza 3
New Rare game

Mass effect 2 will probably be multiplat.

And, as for surprises, both SONY & M$ will have quite a few I would suspect.

I'll echo this in a way, except change it to: it was only the price cut, not some rash of announced games, that spurred 360 sales on and prevented PS3 from gaining ground.  The price cut was big enough to hold off a more heavy-hitting PS3 lineup.  Going forward, who knows what will happen on the price front.

 

I love your bitter tears. Every week the 360 keeps outselling the ps3, that's another week your emo rage builds even higher.

The 360 has the games and the price.

360 games: Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, Mass Effect 2, Forza 3, Rare titles.

-Possible launch of the next Xbox
- 10 year anniversary of PS2......ergo it will finally be discontinued.

2010 the Year of MS, never mind just the 360.

 Unlike Xbox 1, MS actually has control over the manufacturing cost of components. And unlike Xbox 1, the 360 is raking in profit every fiscal quarter, and yearly LIVE gold suscribers will continue to drive revenue, unlike XBox 1 which only had 2 million LIVE members.

Even though there is more quantity on the 360 side, I don't think that the quality is there to trump two tens, two 95s, and (strategy) jrpg of the year on PS3.

 

 Now this seems a bit of a strange post. You use reviews to judge a lineup? Most reviewers nowadays are crap. But also tend to lean towards hyped games. If your into reviews try metacriticing them. Also Fallout 3 was on PS3 as well.

But regardless, people say 2008 was the year of PS3. I dont know. Yes it had MGS4.

But many many people would choose the 360 exclusive list over the PS3 one.

Tales Of Vesperia, Lost Odyssey and Ninja Gaiden 2 are 3 game experiences you just cant get on the PS3 right this minute. (although we do have late ports coming). Also Left4Dead, Fable 2 and Gears 2 are AAA top games. And even BK N&B was a good game. 2008 saw 360 have great games exclusive across a variety of genres. In terms of quality with variety 360 wins hands down in 08.

Ask yourself this. Which big hitters did M$ release in 08 that was an FPS????

I rather wait till we get closer to the end of 09 till we determine this. It very well could be anyones year as far as we know.

Even the iPhone could take 2010 :P
