Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Madworld is just.... average

well ok maybe it is a little but JUST a little brutal to shove a sign though a guy then throw him in a man-heater then put the can with the dead body still inside on someone else...

imagine if you could use malotovs in MadWorld(get much gorier)
now imagine if you could jam sign and throw people into a thrash can(get gorier)

but in the end the malotovs add more gore than the sign and can.(well that's how it is for me, I guess playing Mortal Combat as an infant made me not care about goriness)

Well then maybe you just don't like hack and slash games in general. I mean almost all hack and slash games are the same. It's a lot of repetitive attacks followed with a variety of different moves that are usually finishers. Name any other game that is even remotely like Madworld and you'll see what I mean.

It is not the best game in any respect but it is one of the most unique games I have played in a while and not just because of the visual style. The level of gore and blood, the kinds of finishing moves and attacks, and even the punk storyline was very refreshing to play. It may not be the best hack and slash ever made but it was a refreshing play through for the genre.

No, I'm actually a big fan of hack/slash games - which is maybe why I was expecting more, and can be a little picky.

Its not that the gameplay is repetitive - that holds true for virtually every game out there. Its that the levels don't do enough to change the formula, or add new elements to the game to "play differently". Its not an exploration game - nor does it have puzzles, significant strategies (etc). Maybe I haven't played enough of it, and maybe I haven't spent enough time on it to get really deep into the combo system.

The core game is fun, its definitely different - I guess I was just expecting more (or something slightly different). And the lack of technical polish disappoints me. It reeks of either a rushed, or 'lack-of-care' product.

The highlight is the integration of the Wii controls - they are excellent. But maybe if I was using them to finish off a demon, rather than use a chainsaw to rip some random guy into bits... it would have appealed more to me.

Overall, most of this balances out for me... into 'average'. And I definitely don't want to put anyone else off the game - everyone really should form their own opinion. Anything excessively gory is almost an instant turn-off for me these days, this could be the core reason...

What hack and slash games do you like?

i'd say it's different from GTA, both are gory in their own ways

it's below average actually

You should be beaten, burned to ashes then someone should throw your ashes from a plane

u'r an idiot, get lost

this game is the most brutal game ive ever played!
the fact of discovering those awesome finishing moves kept me gaming for a while.

But after some time it gets repetitive and kinda boring. didnt finish it although its a short game.

An average game focusing on pure brutalism what keeps you interested at first but then becomes what it is: an average/ medicore game

Wenn killerspieler in killerspielen killerspieler killen, dann killen killerspieler in killerspielen killerspieler.

If you really think poorly of MadWorld because it focuses on brutal actions, what do you think of Mortal Kombat?

no internet = no sale for me. I have no intention on spending 50 bucks on a game that i can beat in 2 afternoons.
