I'd say that The Sims is casual and both The Sims and LBP emphasize user created content assembled from modular components. As far as I can tell, they're both games that anyone can pick up and tinker around with things.

I think that a reasonable definition of casual is "easy to learn to play and having a broad appeal". LBP seems to fit into that from what we know of it so far.

Someone else mentioned the No more Heroes image link as well. I was going to mention it right away, but I thought I might get yelled at for mentioning a Wii game in a Sony thread.. :-

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

ANYWAY, now that Hus is done trolling his own thread, I think LBP will be an awesome game.

I am extremely psyched for this game. I see myself having so much making a level, playing through it w/ my friends, and then trying out other peoples' levels. i don't see myself getting bored of this game for a while.

Um no, more like wii fanboys trolling my thread with their typical casual bs propoganda.

Haha ok, Hus, whatever you say. I'm pretty sure the whole thread's been nothing but praise for LBP, so you can be paranoid all day if you want.

Hus, Im pretty sure that no post thus far has attacked LBP in any way and that 90% of the posts have been praising it. Calling a game casual is not an insult and certainly is not trolling.

In my opinion LBP is a strong casual game, which is just what the PS3 needs. Every console needs diversity and currently the PS3 has the least diversity and a large part of that is a big hole that has casual games written all over it.

Hus can you give us your definition of a casual game by the way? Im interested in how you define games as casual or not because currently your definition seems to be 'Casual games are ones that are on the Wii'.

Well then I'll just come in and shatter your preconceptions. I'm not interested in LBP at all. If I owned a PS3 I would not purchase it. If it came out for the Wii I would not purchase it. It just does not look very interesting to me at all.

However, I am excited to see that some new ideas are coming out and getting noticed instead of seeing the same old crap, so I would definitely like to see it sell well.

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

Well I'm just saying, Hus seems to think we're bashing LBP by calling it a casual game.

I think he's got some twisted idea that a casual game has to be the easiest game ever, aka Wii Sports. He doesn't seem to grasp the concept that games like Guitar Hero, Sims, whatever, are also considered casual games. They're games you can spend a lot of time customizing, play however you want, do what you want, etc. LBP is customization to the max...I don't understand why he thinks it's a bad thing to be considered a "casual game."

It is because Hus is clearly insane. See, there are rational people who enjoy their PS3 and look forward to the games coming out for it, who don't mind that some may not enjoy their games as much as they do, and aren't sad if anything isn't "Hardcore". Not enough of them post here.
