Killzone 2 fastest moving title for Sony, has sold 500,000 units

Killzone 2 has sold 500,000 units, making it the fastest selling first-party title for PS3.

That’s a record according to SCEA’s VP of marketing, Scott Steinberg.

Saying that Sony is “extremely happy with the results,” the exec revealed that Killzone 2 was the highest-selling SCEA PS3 title for the first 30 days out of launch.

Full thing over on Game Daily.

The game is great and it deserves its sales, multiplayer is very fun and addictive, it reminds me of the first Halo game just pure fun..

Anyone else find this a bit sad for Guerilla Games? Imagine how well MS would have been able to push this game, with its crazy graphics and cool IP. Probably would have been another Halo/Gears.

Still not bad this is for US only.

I don’t think anyone in their mind would feel sad for GG, even if the game sold 1 copy or 2 million copies it would still be the same game. I'm confident that gamers still play video games for the enjoyment of the game and not for sales figures. If you really think about it this whole, "my game sold better than your game" argument is the craziest, and most silly argument ever to come about in the industry.... totally crazy argument. Killzone 2 is good regardless of sales, buy it, borrow it, or rent it, but don’t miss out on KZ2.

This certainly holds true for us, as gamers, but as for the developers? Sales are probably the most important thing.

Well some devs are different, some want to create a masterpiece (Bungie, ICO company, or GG), while others want to just milk money (EA, Ubisoft, or Activision). But I understand your perspective and respect it.. Kudos

Before anyone freaks out, this is North America's numbers only. Factor in those in the European territories and you easily have over a million.

Great news. Looks like Geurilla's hard work has paid off.
