LOL!

I guess these numbers make a lot more sense...

However, it is like what someone said above...the BS travels faster than the truth sometimes (mostly due to the LAWL factor...).

What are you talking about? There aren't twice as many Wii's as Xbox's in the US, it's 23:17. As such, Wii only fares slightly worse than 360.

Wait, what are you talking about? All I was saying is that the false info. will travel faster than the true info....must have quoted the wrong guy dude.

Yes, I did, I pressed the wrong quote button and then didn't spot it, I apologise. I'll edit my post.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

PS3- 64 - 6.8 - 2.42
360- 78 - 7.1 - 2.15
Wii- 58 - 5.0 - 5.8 1.78

the first column here is average minutes per session
the second column is average days played per month
the third column is average session played on those days

you multiply them together and you get how much each owner plays their console.

So, if these figures are correct, how do explain the corrected graph? The Wii only has a ~30% lead in install base over the 360 in the US. If your numbers are correct, the 360 should have over 50% more total play time than the Wii in the US, but Nielsen releases a correction saying that the Wii has more total play time.

Either your numbers are wrong, or the graph is wrong. Or, Nielsen is full of crap and they're both wrong.

Edit: Oh, I think I figured out how to reconcile your numbers with the graph. A typical Wii has more people playing on it than the typical 360, which makes perfect sense considering the broad appeal and local multiplayer focus of the Wii. It would be more clear if you'd used the word 'user' instead of 'owner' in your post.

@inigo
add up those numbers I posted and you'll find your twice as much.

@Jayderyu
This is definitely not average, this is a total

 As famousringo has pointed out, your math can't be right if the graph is right. Seriously, dude just admit you were off base with your '50 million Wiis, XBox gets played twice as much comment', and be done with this.

@ringo
actually nielsen claims there is nothing wrong with the original graph.

i dunno.

I used all 3 of the current generation consoles that month. I used the PS3 the most, though - Blu-ray.

admitting that the 50 million comment was wrong doesn't make a difference. I've already editted the posts, I know I was wrong. But you guys think this graph represents something it does not.

The math doesn't mean anything because all you are using is percentages whereas I'm using the actual data.

If you look at the chart, does it tell you the total minutes played? no. Without that information, you can't prove me wrong.

The graph is cut off. Right-click on the image and view it in a new window or look at Blacksaber's squashed version and you'll see the Wii has overtaken the 360 in total play time.

@ringo
you figured it out. That does make sense.

Well that's good to know!
