Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How about a Zelda:Four Swords Adventures port for the Wii/DS?

No thanks; no more (last gen) ports.

Why port it? Just make a sequal

Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true

If any of you opposing the idea of a port haven't actually played the GC game, then your position is baseless, given how the game's beautiful 2D graphics are not at all dated, nor is the gameplay; opposing a port on principle just because you know the game existed for a previous console, regardless of its quality, makes no sense. If, however, you have already played it and would prefer a sequel rather than a port, I can respect that preference.

Even having played the game, I'd say that a port would be a great idea, simply for that fact that I like the notion of bringing games that few people were able to enjoy (due to technical limitations in this case, combined with a smaller install base) to a broader audience who could now experience it for the first time.

I've beaten the game, and it wasn't that great either. 7/10 as a maximum score for me, ALttP destroys it. I'd rather get another Nintendo IP than another port.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

just so long as you wouldn't need 4 DSs to play the game. I hated the gamecube's lame "use the GBA as a controller" concept. Made it hard to play otherwise solid games.

I'd rather they made a sequel, as long as they took out the crappy multiplayer. I found the single player mode to be better than AlttP (not that I find that to be particualy difficult thing to acheive).

Better than ALTTP? Lol... The game was confined to levels, there was no open world. And that's the base of the Zelda games, open world. Four Swords Adventures was a weird experiment that I rather never play again.

Edited.

I assume you ment Four Swords here.

I found ALttP to be a title that I had to force myself to play in stark contrast after hearing of it's supposed greatness. For whatever reason ALttP finds it'self only below the first game and Zelda II as my least liked game in the series (not counting the CD-i games).

I do have a pleathora of complaints regarding ALttP but to be honest even I am somewhat puzzled as to why I found the game to be such an insufferable bore and I'm even more perplexed as to why I found the Four Swords to be more entertaining despite lacking many of the Zelda tradmarks. I suppose it's just one of those strange anomalies which not even your personal preference can explain.

Edited my previous post. ALttP is a Masterpiece, exactly what did you dislike? Four Swords is a light hearted, smaller and more boring ALttP.

That's why FSA isnt even considered a mainline game, but a small spin-off.

As I've already said...I don't exactly know. Sure it has some very small design flaws here and there, but then so does Oot and MM and that doesn't stop them from being my top 2 games of all time. I could throw around words such as 'boring' or 'uninsipired' but to be quite frank these would seem contrived and to vauge even to me. They're basically words I could apply to any area of any work of entertainment and it would mean squatt because I'm not really saying anything.

As I said it's a taste thing. I know what I like in video games and one of these things are Zelda games and It doesn't make sense to me either considering that's it's one of the franchises definitive games. I really don't want to appear like i'm attempting to devalue ALttP because I can see that a lot of time and effort went into it. All i'm saying is that most of the design choices just didn't push the right buttons with me. What these design choices were; I don't know. What these buttons are; I don't know either. You're right, ALttP IS a masterpiece but for some elusive reason I simply didn't like it as much as the Four Swords.
