Forums - Gaming Discussion - Analyst: Wii Is 'Fool's Gold' For Game Investors

OMG this is sooo true
"The other issue is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 are AAA-oriented platforms, while the Wii is casual-oriented. There is a very clear correlation between game quality and unit sales on the 360/PS3, while there is very little correlation on the Wii, at least for third-party games.

Thus, in some sense you have more control over your fate on the 360/PS3 if you can come up with a high-quality game. Whereas on the Wii, it's a bit of a crapshoot for what works and what doesn't."

devs simple keep losing on the wii when they try to make quality games, but some really crappy games sell millions.

So Nintendo is such a great developer that no third party can make games that people want to buy (besides the Guitar games, because they're obviously not third party...)?

It's this kind of ingnorance that causes these third parties to lose money.

Do explain.....

Uhh no, If third party developers actually made hardcore fun games as good as Nintendo people would buy it.

*Yawn* Another thread on a analysts who bashes Nintendo.

Can we get some originality once in a while here...

Blahblahblah, the real question should be, why should we care about what these analysts are saying when they make so many mistakes all the time? The harsh reality today towards articles like these is that if you get one thing wrong, your article becomes almost something that has 0 credibility yet they keep making the same mistakes of contradicting themselves with bad points, wrong facts, or come up with terrible math that even a lot of the elementry school kids can figure out. I've never really liked analysts personally.

What is so funny here is that everyone is acting as if this one analyst was the only voice presented.

As I copied earlier, the next analyst had the completely opposite take on the market.

The bigger question though, from all the analysis, is whether or not you can make something for the Wii that is not casual and is engrossing. My guess is yes -- but few have really tried.

How does a single example address his question which was about the frequency of titles?

Because Madworld bombed?

Again I ask...

And a single title has what to do with the frequency related question that was originally asked?

Hint: Simply giving the same answer a third time probably won't work.

To Each Man, Responsibility

Nintendo is doomed, PS3 is the future.

Everyone continue to make cinematic games. Do not look at the innovative I/O focused games in the corner. Repeat: DO NOT look at them. Continue with your cutscenes, gamers want cutscenes. Cutscenes = sales.

That is all.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

Am I seeing things? Did Hus reproduce?

I'm seeing a lot of paranoid Sony and Microsoft tools running in here screaming about the "Wii Army," "Wiimafia" and other such somewhat cute Nintendo-oriented conjurations with little basis, claiming that a very poor opinionated article is "absolutely true" with little to no attempt at backing it up with any intelligent reasons, and finishing it all off by jumping back under their bridge just as quickly as they came out of it.

I know the recession hit hard but I'm sure you trolls can afford to try a little bit harder.
