Judging by current weeks, the 360 has been out-selling the PS3 on VGchartz WW quite comfatabl, even with the PS3 price-drop and the 360 without any Japan support, so will PS3 ever surpass 360?

If you go back to the week ending Aug 19th and a bit earlier its a different story. The point is that right now we are on the Halo 3 on-ramp and the 360 is about to launch itself into some pretty nice sales for the rest of the year with Halo carrying it into the Holidays.

The fact that some are speculating if it could re-pass the Wii this year and with logical reasoning is a testament to the fact that the 360 is not in any danger of being passed by the PS3 within the accurately foreseeable future.

It is very possible it will eventually do so, but guesses at when are just that...guesses. My guess would be yes, it will eventually pass it, but when and ultimately by how much is such a wide open question right now that I don't even want to speculate.

Considering its his first post? Absolutely! But I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, if people can control themselves (@everyone reading this, yes you!) and just state their opinions and move on there should be no issues....

Well, I would say there are likely to be flames in this thread, but not because the OP is "flamebait". He really didn't say anything inflammatory.

I think the PS3 is priced too high and lacks enough exclusive great games to overtake the 360. I think now that the PS3 has had a $100 price drop compared to the 360's paltry price drops, and the 360 had the widely publicized RROD issue, the fact that PS3 sales are still behind the 360's sales makes me think that it's very unlikely that Sony will ever make it out of last place.  The fact is, the only time PS3 sales have ever exceeded 360 sales was the European launch and just after the PS3 price drop, before the 360's smaller price drop.  MS is simply in a much better position.

Yes i think the PS3 will overtake the X360 when is anyones guess i say next year some time probably around Christmas.I think Halo3 is just lengthing the process of the X360 being overtaken by the PS3.The sales for both will probably be quite close when the PS3 overtakes it but that will change with the release of Sony's "Big Guns" all throughout next year and 09.

I still think that the PS3 will pass the 360 by next December. I will give you my thoughts per region.

In America
-Sony will be launching home this year which I think will become the next big hotspot for teens.
-Sony is supposed to be launching a new download service to rival iTunes which if true and PS exclusive could start to garner some intrest.
-The PS3 has the most Exclusive Titles of all three platforms, with a good mix of old and new
-Next year we will see GT5, MGS3, FFXIII, Killzone 2, GTA4, Getaway, and many more big name franchises which are shot gun games instead of sniper games (all markets as opposed to one)
-The PS3 will be down to $399 by march and $299 by october
-Blu-ray will be better known, and the digital standars will be heavy on peoples minds

In Japan
-Price will continue to go down
-More big guns in the Japanese markets will become avaliable
-Games like Gundam and Hot Shots have prooved Japan is waiting tell the games they want arrive
-Xbox is dead in Japan

In EU
-People are going to go crazy for Home, even more than in USA
-SIngstar, Buzz, Killzone, Getaway, and GT are all huge franchises
-They will have the biggest price cuts next year
-Blu-ray will be bigger faster
-Things shown at Liepzig will be out

Thouse are the things the PS3 has going for it that I think will make the differance.


Note to all the idiots that keep on post after my posts about how such and such game sold to this percent of this base, while this did this to this.

It is all about sustained sales. Look at how GT3 sold then look how GT4 sold this means their are at least 9 million people that are into GT, because they got both games. Know I am no idiot and I know someone could have only got GT4, but looking at GT1/2 we see the same deal so I will take the Past for the future. Now this is just one example, if you want to chack out other stuff like MGS, FF, or anyother PS title please do it and know what you are talking about.

Ps3 has the most exclusives? thats one I never heard before.

At this rate Ps3 is never gonna take the lead, this year is likely going to the 360. There only 300.000 devided in terms of sales this year and with the 360 now ouselling it worldwide and halo 3 coming up I do not see the Ps3 taking over the second spot in at least 2 years. I will come back with some math to back it up.

I think PS3 will take over X360 begin of year 2009. Price has dropped and brand name especially in EU has gone stronger because price drop. Of course that helps too that games like GT5,GTAIV,FFXII and MGS4 will come to PS3.
