Forums - Nintendo Discussion - That's it! I have decided to start and finish Ocarina of time!

Yeah, probably something like that. Most of my time is spend on figuring out how to solve the puzzle of a specific room. Some puzzles are just hard tbh XD

After I finish it I'll do all the sidequests and then I'm going to replay it for a second time some months later if not just one month.

Well, I am sorry if I sounded too harsch. I apologize. But what I am doing is defending my opinion ( the one I have built so far, if I finish OoT it may change) which is that TP is as good or even better than OoT.

I didn't notice the game (TP) being too long. For me it was fantastic. Long enough. And now that some people is saying it, OoT looks longer TO ME! (When you are having fun time flies)

Soma:

I don't mind using guides and I do it if I feel stuck. I used a guide playing TP but it was only a couple of times. Playing OoT I've had to look the guide frequently! If the game is way too hard TO ME, to the point of being boring and frustrating, then it is not a good game TO ME. In that sense, TP was perfectly balanced for me. Challenging and yet fun to play.

i am not saying TP is a bad game. i am saying it simply lacks in the aspects that make OoT so great and that mainly is character and originality as ive said thousands of times before. TP is fun but dont you think worlds like Sky temple, Twilight Realm just seem like very boring fillers in the game that are only there to help carry out the story. these temples have absolutely no personality they are imo boring and painful to play. the difference with OoT is that every temple every character every song you play everything basically serves a purpose to add to the game positively. same goes for windwaker.

i feel that if TP wasnt bigger and more graphically advanced than OoT, we wouldnt be having this debate becuase other than these aspects what else does it do to be considered better than OoT. For the record i played TP FIRST, not OoT not windwaker but TP. i loved it and thought it was great but after playing OoT i realised how much it lacked in comparison. i will never forgive myself for not playing OoT when it first came out. i feel i missed out. i presume it would be similar to never playing Super Mario 64 when it first came out then playing it now.

the bottom line is that TP does not make a case like OoT did. no one would ever state TP being the best game ever because it does nothing new, yes its a fun game but it just doesnt do anything that OoT did. still no doubt a great game but one which surely cannot be held in the same regard as OoT

The only thing Oot did new was being the first 3D zelda game and there for it gets praised so high(deserved praise). They did nothing new? Except for the twilight realm and wolf link.
The water temple sucks harder then the sky temple.

To tell you the truth, I don't know. You know why? Because that game is competing for my gaming time against current generation games I just bought which I actually consider fun. In the meantime, playing OoT for me is like... work. I do it because it gives me something to post when I come here and doing that is fun. IF ONLY I COULD FIND A DAMM WIRELESS GAMECUBE CONTROLLER! But it's been impossible! So everytime I sit down to play OoT I have to do it when my five years old son is not around running and juping. I don't want an accident with my Wii. That is a factor that I must confess has killed the experience for me a little bit.

Some other thing I hate about playing OoT: the menu system. With Zelda TP it was way simpler. In OoT I got to pause the game a lot to play the ocarina, to choose the items, to check the map, to wear the boots, etc...

One question: whenever I am done with the water temple, is the game a down-hill-joyride from there?

I had the same problem with my daughter pulling the gamecube controller cord. I had already bought a classic controller but I hadn't used it till then. It solved the problem. Since the classic controller plugs to the wiimote your wii will be safe.

Changing your boots in the water temple in OoT sucks. I'm glad they changed that in TP. I always had the ocarina equiped so playing songs wasn't really as time consuming to me.

After the water temple it gets much better. You can count on that.

It tell ya, save the best for last. The Spirit Temple should be the last you tackle!
