Forums - Gaming Discussion - Should I buy a Xbox 360 or a PS3 ?

Well, look at the exclusives and decide.
If you don't have a HDTV then it really doesn't matter which console you choose in terms of picture quality (and even now they are pretty close).
Blu-ray players are cheap now, so thats not a huge issue.
Free online vs. $38.98 for 13 months...you will most likely have more friends on XBL...but that doesn't matter if you like to play single player games.

well im probably getting a 360 after christmas, i recomend it.

Have you had a 360 yet? The system would be out of this world if it was reliable. As I stated in a previous statement I have been through several and one fail as recently as a month ago. Went to  a ps3. Great system also and just about fail proof. Its just a matter of time I think before things take off for ps3. Hey its a 10 year plan. Do yourself a favor and get a ps3 or wii. I have that for my children and myself ocassionally. Just some friendly advice.

PS3 is better. wi-fi, blu-ray, free online, metal gear solid 4, killzone 2 and much more. Its better to upgrade your PC than buying a 360.

Get a PC! Because these people want to win some fanboy kickball and you're the ball.

Win! Screw consoles all together! Only fanboys own them! (damn! I'm a fanboy then!)

Well if you want the best buy an Xbox 360. Best games, community, and controller.

Depend what your after

with ps3 you can use it as blu ray player and for games+free online and a built in Wi-fi with loads of games.

also if your getting a ps3 i suggest w8 for a while because it might get a price cut.

Buy a PS3 first if you want the best games, play Blu-Ray movies, surf the web, the PS3 is the more reliable console system with free online play and the better controller. But it comes at a price tag of $400.

However 360 has a good games library most of the same games on 360 are on the PS3, no Blu-Ray player, Wi-Fi is not included and costs additional $100, recurring online fees of $50 per year to play games online, controller is ideal for shooters which are mainly the only game genre on the XBox 360. Starts from a entry level of $200 and upwards depends on whether or not you get a model with a hard drive which is needed to play games online.

The biggest drawback of the 360 is the continuous hardware problems that have plagued the 360 for almost 4 years since its launch back in 2005. Hardware problems of 360 include: overheating resulting in red Rings of Death, DVD drive breakdowns, error messages. Microsoft's 3 year warranty now covers the RROD problem but any other problem is not covered under the three year warranty.

In conclusion I recommend you buy a PS3 which will be a more worthwhile console gaming investment than an Xbox 360.

If you asked me this question in 2007 I would say 360, but now, I think the PS3 is the better buy. The games are just so appealing; Killzone 2, Uncharted 1 and 2, the upcoming God of War, Ratchet games, the possibility of Jak 4, Little Big Planet, Resistance 1 and 2, MLB 09: The Show, and of course, everyone's favourite, MGS4. The library is packed with games and whoever says the PS3 is lacking in games is totally wrong.

The 360 is also solid; Halo is my second favourite series ever, and Gears is pretty good as well; but those are the only two mega exclusives on the 360; the PS3 has about 6-7 games that can be classified as mega exclusives. Plus, the online is free, so it's definitely a great thing and the 399 eventually pays itself off since u wont be paying 60 bucks a month with the 360. I say wait for now until a price drop is announced, but if you're really desperate, go with the arcade console for 199.
