Forums - Gaming Discussion - Final Fantasy 13 being developed with cross-platform engine

Man 360 fanboys are delusional. There is not one piece of credible proof, nothing what so ever, that the 360 will ever get either MGS4 or Final Fantasy XIII. All they can do is scream userbase. Never mind the 360 flops in Japan and large sections of Europe. I'm sure all these developers are oblivious to that and care only what a system does in the US and UK. In any case by late 2008 the worldwide userbase of the 360 and PS3 probably won't be that far apart. While I can't totally rule out these games coming to the 360 at best they come in downgraded form a year later. Probably they won't come at all. We really need to stop these posts which provide no solid proof from overly hopeful 360 fanboys.

I am actually getting a good laugh at these 360 fans. They are so busy trying to justify it and they are totally wasting their time. It's quite funny.

Its like people think that the ps3 will stay below 10 million in userbase when FF XIII is released.

Even if it's say 20 million, how many copies of FFXIII do you think will be sold? It would have to have a 25% attach rate to even make it to 5 million and that would be even worse than FFIX. As far as I know, Final Fantasy VII had the highest attach rate ever for an RPG with 9.5%.

Do you really think they'll release it as an exclusive on a system where it'll have to have an unprecedented attach rate in order to have sales that are merely disappointing. If they allow a Final Fantasy game to sell below par when they could have avoided it, Square-Enix's executives will have to face a lot of angry shareholders.

Well I shall enlighten, and frighten, you.

Pokemon is an RPG. Even if you count Red and Blue-Green (different names in US and Japan) as seperate games, you still have 15+ million games each. With GBO (Gameboy Original) sales at 70 million, you still have a greater attach ratio.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Does it really matter. FFXII was quite shabby. Im looking more forward to Lost Odyessey. Hironobu Sakaguchi directs the best.

PS3 4.4mill
Resistance - 1.63

ohh looki 36% attach rate.

360 10.82
Gears 4.53

ohh noes 41.8% attach rate.

FF7 hit on around a 10 mill user base, its ridiculous that it sold 9.7 million.

Attach rates only really work after the console's life is effectively over.

Otherwise, the day after the PS3 launch, you could scream how RFOM had an 85% attach rate. Now it's at 36%. By the end of life, it will almost assuredly be at 10% or less. Even Gears, which has sold in much greater numbers than RFOM, will probably end up just over or under 10% attached, maybe close to 15% if it's lucky.

Edit: Ah, I see you were talking about FF selling 5m. Forget this post.

What does final PS2 number mean to lets say GT3 attach rate if by 04 GT4 came out and GT3 was no longer sold ?

My point is small user base = high attach rate, on 10 million PS3 user abse FF will come close to 50% since the 10 mill are very hardcore gamers.

10% on 100 mill or 50% on 10 mill = the same sales.

If resistance can do +35% attach rate you really thing Final Fantasy will have a hard time doing much better ?

A lot of people bought Resistance because there was nothing else. This isn't a jab at Resistance or the PS3 in any way at all, I'm just saying that's the advantage of getting to do a launch title. It doesn't matter if your game is good or bad, if there's only a small amount of titles available (launch) then of course it's going to sell well.

And how is it not the similar for FF ?

It will be the biggest RPG yet to hit the PS3 and thats for damn sure, people will buy justbecasue its the big rpg form Square.

ROFL um it DOES matter if its good or bad, early adopters are the hardcore know everything about a game types they wont buy crap. Which explains why the best sellers for PS3 are Resistance and Motorstorm and not COD3 and Ridge Racer.

Ok, idiot, I hate to resort to name calling, but when a system is released there is a small number of games available.  When someone buys a system for something other than resell, they want a game.  When there are, what, five games to choose from they're going to choose at least one of them.  It doesn't matter if the game is good or bad, what the buyer does or doesn't know, they're going to get a game.  I'm sure you pleasure yourself to your PS3 every night but most people really do enjoy having consoles for playing games.

As for FFXIII, yeah, people will buy it, I don't think I ever disagreed with that, what I disagreed with was an insane 50% attach rate.  It's just not going to happen.

how is this tool not baned ?

way to show bias mods.

I'm not doing anything you request if you constantly bash the mods. You both were asking for trouble, I see no reason to do anything to either of you.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
