Uh-huh. So... you think.... that this will happen in Japan.

Okay, that's not that out there. Maybe. I mean, yeah, with Dragon Quest it honestly is, and the PSP will never catch up to the DS just like the PS3 will never catch up to the Wii, but we can pretend.

But outselling it in Japan isn't going to mean anything on the worldwide stage.

I Think this thread raise a good point and the predictions are some what logical

The DSi will never catch up to the PSP.

If Nintendo doesn't get some real games out there again soon, you'll see a similar thing take place in the West in time to what has taken place in Japan this year with the Wii's sales and it will take place on both the DS and Wii in the West.  And, unlike in Japan, Monster Hunter G won't make much of a difference for the Wii when it occurs.

I honestly think DSi is going to be a very bad move for Nintendo in the West and it could be the beginning of problems for the Wii in the Western market.  It's going to cut into the sales of DS Lite because people will not want to get the DS Lite when Nintendo has a better handheld o the market for $40.00 more, but the DSi isn't going to be seen by many as being enough of an upgrade (especially with the loss of gba functionality for them to run out and pick up a DSi).  Also, the DSi is only launching with two color choices which aren't particularly asthetically pleasing, so its marketing is already being handled in a haphazard way.

Now, if the PSP gains momentum as some of these Japanese games head West and with a lower price point while DSi proves to be a stumbling block for Nintendo combined with a $150.00 price tag for the PSP (I believe the PSP has been keeping the Wii down in Japan in recent months) and maybe a price cut to $150.00 for the 360 too, that would also begin to cut into the Wii's momentum.  Combine this with a PS3 pricecut to $299.99 more interplay between PSP and PS3 games and more hype and rave reviews for upcoming PS3 games, and you find yourself in a situation where PS3's engines are running at full throttle and ready to make a move at the Wii at $250.00.

A year of the Wii selling at peak Gamecube levels and a year of the PS3 selling at peak PS2 levels and you begin to see Nintendo's lead over the competition dropping drastically.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

i saw space jam. mike can take on mugs, charlie, ewing, johnson, and bradley by himself.

anyway 'its not even second' doesnt mean squat. for the first time ever the industry will have 3 viable platforms. it was always just the leader before. first time ever the 3rd place console will outsell previous first place systems

huh?

unless you mean PS3 or XBox 360 would outsell SNES... but then again the population is different

last gen which ended 2/3 years ago 2nd and 3rd place were pathetic and didnt even come close. for 3rd place now on its way shortly after is impressive no matter the population. means the industry is healthy

@carl

yeah my personal predictions are somewhere round there too!

PS3 will in the end be seen as a good success

Yea selling less than Half of your previous predessor. Losing all your market share from 70% to 20%. Losing all ur profit from the PS2 gen and losing tons of exclusives is a good success. Yea WOOT!!!

B_E_L_I_E_V_E

it may have had high expectations but just because something doesnt meet them doesnt mean it isnt successful. i mean look at kobe people expected him to surpass jordans skills. that never happened so i guess he wasnt a successful basketball player and was a waste of resources for the lakers right

DUMBEST ANALOGY EVER!!!

Kobe has ALWAYS made money.  The ps3 has NEVER made money. Nuff said

LOL. Hes trying to so hard to make the PS3 sound like it wasnt unsuccessful

there are always differences in analogies i feel sorry for you trolls.

BTFeather.

Firstly, the DSLite and the DSi are not counted separately. They are both part of the Nintendo Dual Screen line. Saying "the DSi won't outsell the PSP" is like saying "the PSP-3000 won't ever catch up to the Nintendo DS".

Secondly, if you think the DSi is going to make the DS line crash and burn.... well, it sure hasn't happened in Japan, now has it?

Your scenarios are based on a lot of "if"s which are neither realistic nor particularly relevant.

The PS3 will never peak like the PS2 did, and it will be several years before the Wii has a full year where it has a total comparable to the Gamecube's peak.

I'm not sure you realize how ridiculous the stuff you are typing is.

Oh, you guys, you cant recognize an april fool's joke coming from the source if it hit you in the face hahaha
