I could only break it down into categories and make preliminary guesses. But something like this:

FPS - HALO
AFPS - MP3
RFPS - BioShock
Platformer - SMG
SportsSim - Mario and Sonic at the Olympics
ARPG - Zelda
Turn based RPG - Jeanne D' Arc
etc....

I can't believe someone said ratchet and clank O.o; Sure it will be a good game. But it won't be anywhere near game of the year. Maybe GOTY for PS3 but definetly not GOTY.

There are so many this year it's hard to say, SSBB,SMG,Metroid 3, Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass effect, assassins creed. Can the orange box count? HL2 + the 2 episodes + portal + team fortress might just win over some sites. Maybe crysis but it depends if it's actually good or if it's just all graphics.

I would say those games all have a reasonable chance. BS and MP3 have already had rave reviews. SSBB, Halo 3, SMG and OB are all pretty much guarnteed fantastic reviews. The others I think have a huge amount of promise.

There are a lot of games coming out this year that are going to be very good however I think one of those will take the majority of GOTY.

I just don't see anything on the PS3 that could compete with those titles. While R+C , uncharted and UT3 will no doubt be very good I just don't see them matching up to the other games. UT3 is a possibility but it's hard to say, if it did get GOTY I imagine it would be the PC version as they have usually been ranked higher.

X360:Bioshock or MassEffect(if its better than KOTOR)

PSP:No idea dont have a clue what games are coming on it except Jeane'de Arc and FFVII:CrisisCore.

OVERALL:SuperMarioGalaxy,Uncharted or Bioshock(highly doubt this though)

Honourable mentions:Halo3(X360),SuperSmashBros.Brawl(Wii),MetroidPrime3(Wii),HeavenlySword(PS3),Haze(PS3)(less chance of happening than FFXIII being released in EU next year),Ratchet&ClankFuture(PS3).

Bioshock is obviously in the running, as for future games:

SMG-Wii, MP3-Wii, Mass Effect-XB360, Uncharted-PS3 (big maybe), Assassin's Creed-Multi (big maybe)

I don't think that Halo 3 will be in the running for GOTY though.

Everyone forgot about Assasins Creed ... that game has a huge chance to .

For the PS3 : UT3 or DF
X360 : Halo 3 ... maybe Bioshock if H3 flops
Wii : MP3 or MG
PSP : CC in Japan , but Wipeout Pulse/Syphonfilter/SH/JD here
DS : LoZ : PH seeing that BT2 got only 7s and 8s :?

Predictions changed to incorporate Assassains Creed.

Mario Galaxy is the main contender, I have a great feeling about HAZE being very good for the PS3, and possibly HALO 3 for 360 (Topping Bioshock would be an achievement in itself).

DS is wide open, PSP - possibly Wipeout Pulse or (if realeased) GOW:COO.

Halo 3 will definintly beat out Bioshock for the 360 because it's a Halo game...sad but true...

I doubt it unless we are talking about a user's choice GOTY. Critics will be pretty harsh on Halo 3 unless it is better than Halo 1/2 in every way imaginable, but Bioshock (whether or not it is SS2 part deux) is a fresh game.

Bioshock will win it - unless Mass Effect can pull off something amazing. It has the "popular" vote with review sites, etc.

My GOTY will definitely be Galaxy - unless it ends up broken in some way (99.99% unlikely).
