Forums - Gaming Discussion - Metal Gear Solid 4 vs Super Mario Galaxy. Which is the Greatest??

that people part wasn't meant for people that played through them lol, i just forgot to seperate it with enters. well, of course you won't have the WOW factor because 64 was the first of it's kind back in the day, I'm simply comparing the 2 games is all, it is a better game, just no more WOW, you know?

I don't think MGS4 is bad or anything, it just didn't feel like a game a lot of the times, and the plots don't always make good sense with good logic if you can pin point the problems in them, it was kinda over done. but of course, that's only my opinion, I'm sure the die hard fans wouldn't agree with me.

Oh I see your opinion and I understand it.  Everyone has different gaming tastes ya know?  I guess I feel like, yeah Mario is a good game. (Almost every Mario I have ever played is fun).  I just don't think Galaxy differentiates itself enough to impress me.  I mean Mario 64 is now over 10 years in the rear view mirror and I feel like when playing Galaxy that there is very little different from Galaxy / Mario 64 with the occasional usage of the Wii-mote and running on planets.

I think MGS4 is a conclusion to a game for the fans.  It's always been a series with a lot of cutscenes or codec conversations interrupting the gameplay.  The gameplay by itself is somewhat shallow IMO (But the games success has been it's uniqueness and how it could immerse you into the story of the game).   The plots are no more confusing IMO than any of the other MGS games in the series and while I'm sure you could poke holes in it's logic in several places,  Overall (Especially if you read up on the included Game Database) you can put a lot of things together.

I think the problem with this argument is MGS4 will not be appealing to many people because it assumes you've played other Metal Gear Sold games to some extent and actually enjoy the gameplay.  It just seems to me a lot of people either never played the other Metal Gear Solid games (Or particularly enjoyed them)  but expected to enjoy the 4th one.

Yeah, it's like looking at OoT against TP, I think they are both about on par but some people hate TP despite how much better it controled with the Wiimote lol.

Personally, I liked the other MGS better than the 4th one, a lot of the times, I wanted to choke people with 4, if I didn't have all the beauty to look at, I think I'd gone insane already. It's a good thing he ended the Solid one, I guarantee it would have gone down hill from there if he didn't end it.

Well, I've played both... although I confess that I mostly played Metal Gear Solid 4 for its story. I've never been a huge fan of the series' trademark gameplay, but I've enjoyed the previous games' tales and wanted the chance to finish Solid Snake's adventures.

Suffice to say, it was a nice ending to the "Solid" series in every sense of the word, which was somewhat surprising to me. Seeing as the previous titles were known for their more unconventional ways to get the story across, I thought 4 would end on a continued unconventional note. But, it more or less ended on a "happy" note (I'd explain further, but I'd rather not spoil it for others).

MGS3 is still my favorite game in the series, but 4 is definitely a solid choice for any fan (Yes, the pun is intended).

Oh, and Super Mario Galaxy is simply incredible. So my vote goes towards Galaxy, aka "Teh Game of teh Evar".

I found Galaxy so bad i even broke the disk, just to be sure i will never see this awfulness again...

I never played MGS4, i never really liked the series

So both fail.

Why the fuck does this even cross people's minds?!

Souless remake with terrible controls, but it has SPARKLES AND PRETTY LIGHTS to keep your ADD active. As opposed to something with a story.

Oh shit, forgot the hover nozzle from Sunshine/Bee suit. :|

Galaxy was a disappointment.

No you fail for wasting 60 dollars by breaking the disk instead of returning it like a normal person.

SMG, because you actually get to play it.

MGS4 hands down ( biased )

Super Metal Galaxy 4: Guns of the Marios.

You call that jumbled mess MGS4 shoves in your face a story? Try playing MGS1 or 3, then get back to me.
